Saw 3

Oh, my, God. This is the goriest movie I have ever seen. All I could think about after leaving the theater is how much blood we have in our bodies. :barf:
It was entertaining and engrossing, but you'd seriously have to pay for me to watch it again.
Think the brain scene from Hannibal x 100,000. Think Hostel on steroids. Well, they might be about the same. You'd have to pay me to watch either of them again.

Now I've got to go sleep with the lights on because I'm sure the pigman and his little puppet buddy are going to nab me in the night and teach me a lesson. :scream:

I know the kid of the actor who was stuck in the chains.

Yep, 4 degrees closer to hollywood than Kevin Bacon on that one.

You're like 3 degrees from Mel Gibson there.

Son of Guy in chains
Guy in chains worked with the director (obv)
The director worked with Angus MacFadyen
Angus worked with Mel Gibson in Braveheart

Marie Antoinette
8/10

LOVED it. I loved the use of modern music (with the exception of the "I Want Candy" sequence - it was too much), it was an amazingly gorgeous movie. I just really enjoyed it.

I usually don't find Kirsten Dunst all that attractive, but she was stunning in every scene in this movie.

Makes me want to go and see this movie even more now

As long as you know what to expect. My boss went to see it and hated it ... but she had been expecting some sort of "chick flick/tearjerker" thing.

Saw III
6/10

I can't really give this a high score because 1) I don't really like these movies, personally 2) I think I'm about to throw up 3) There were a few too many scenes that reminded me of childhood trauma 4) I am sick of the way these movies end. So there went the four points and that leaves us with 6 :D...I know I know, that was a horrilbe review, but I'm really in a bad mood for seeing that movie, but it was worth it. I went with my friend to see it, so now she's going with me to see Nightmare Before Christmas

Way to overexaggerate, you wuss . I could handle watching that movie again while eating pork chops with a side of bacon during the pigs with maggots scene. I felt really uncomfortable during the opening scene but that was it.

Anyway, the movie was okay but not great. It was nice to get some loose ends from Saw 1 and 2 finally resolved. I'm giving it a 6/10.

PS Saw 4 is already being written with a projected Halloween '07 release date

The Prestige
9/10

I wanted to see this movie so much because my uncle is a magician, and I always sorta wanted to follow in his footsteps, but alas, I have no talent in this particular field...anyway enough about me on to the movie. I thought it was amazing, there were so many little plot twists throughout, and some pretty interesting illusions. Also, for the first time in a while, the preview for this movie did not spoil anything for me. Yes, I did figure out the ending about 45 minutes before it happened, but overall, I loved it and I will definently be purchasing it when it comes out on video.

This movie was SO GOOD!!! My friend and I just loved it (which is funny because he absolutely hates and loathes "Memento", which I love, but still funny that he hates "Memento"and loved this movie).

I've heard "The Illusionist" is actually a better movie about magicians, but since I haven't seen that one yet, I can't comment.

But I would highly recommend "The Prestige".

Chick flick isn't exactly what I had in mind with this movie lol.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning- 8/10

Huge fan of horror movies and I was not even close to being disappointed with this one. A bit too gory sometimes for me personally but it's to be expected with this kind of movie. Would pay to go and see it again

Flags of Our Fathers

6/10. Disappointing. A little flat. I thought Adam Beach stole the movie. Adam Beach:love: I bet he'll get an Oscar nomination

The Notebook 10/10

Everyone told me I would love this movie/cry at the end. And I was like pshhhh.....well the credits are rolling as I type this and I am sobbing. That was fantastic and is definently a movie I plan on purchasing as soon as possible.

babel

6.5/10

good not great

a little too mello-dramatic

Oh, that's too bad. The trailer looks really good, but then I guess that's the purpose of a trailer. Will go see it anyway since I love Gael Garcia Bernal.

I saw The Departed yesterday and really liked it. 8/10 though as a Boston girl I have to say the accents were appalling, except for Mark Whalberg and Matt Damon, of course, being local boys and all!

I really like the director

Amores perros

and 21 Grams

were much better than Babel

but it is still good and people in the theater actually applauded when it was over.

I just saw Amores Perros last night! I liked it. I didn't realize it was the same director.

Running with Scissors

9/10

I loved this movie almost as much as I loved Little Miss Sunshine. If you liked LMS, you'll love this. It's a little bit darker, but the comedy is

Joseph Fiennes.......pornstache...

The Illusionist is a better love story.

The Prestige is a better magician story, plus it has David Bowie and Scarlett Johannson and her boobies.

Santa Claus 3- 8/10

Falling into the trap of these holiday movies  Was very good though and Tim Allen once again did a great job. Had a lot more to this movie then just the cuteness factor. Not to mention that Martin Short was hilarious as Jack Frost

Next holiday movie to see "Deck The Halls" with Matthew Broderick

I've seen a lot of movies over the past fortnight

Marie Antoinette

8/10

I wasn't going to go see it because I haven't heard good things about it but really enjoyed it.

Borat

9/10

French movie about the resistance called "Army in the shadows" about resistance/collaboration for educational purposes. 5/10

A Good Year

Predictable and cheesy but good tale nonetheless

6/10

Saw "Marie Antoinette" Friday night. I liked it and thought it was both thought provoking and entertaining. It's not as good as "Lost In Translation", but it's not bad either.

Actually, I thought it dealt with a lot of the same themes as "Lost In Translation": boredom, isolation, purpose in life, feeling trapped.

I told my friend that Sophia Coppola is so good at visually capturing boredom and isolation. And my friend said, "Yeah. But the only problem is, when she's capturing boredom and isolation, I feel bored."

To each his own.

I liked it. (Especially the use of The Cure's "Plainsong" and New Order's "Ceremony"--two of my favorite songs from those artists.)

:hmm:

very iiinteresting.

Kill Bill: Volume 1

4.5/5

I saw it for the first time last weekend. Holy bloodbath, batman! I really wasn't prepared to see human beings running around and spraying their innards like garden hoses. It's extremely violent, and not for children or small pets.

But, once you get past that small detail, the theme of vengeance and redemption is strangely powerful and gripping.

I did a course called Vichy France on Film at Nottingham, but I don't think I saw that one. Have you seen Un héros très discret ?

The Queen.

I'd give it 8/10 and most of that is for Helen Mirren

She's a fantastic actress and is stunning in this film! You can really believe she is the Queen and also the guys who plays Tony Blair&Prince Charles are pretty good too

It was sad for me to watch, listening to them being so blase about Diana, esp Prince Phillip who if he did have that attitude then :madwife: the swine :madspit:

Watching it brought it all back, that awful week in 1997

Office Space
7/10

Don't get me wrong, the movie WAS funny just was watn' as funny to me as it was to EVERYONE else, and there were some plot holes and stuff....regardless it was good.

and FINALLY I've now caught 1,000s of jokes people have told me over the years, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, I now understnad what was so funny/important about TPS changing his screen name to TPSReports

the departed 9.5/10

scorsese

dicaprio needs to stop appearing in movies where his character is supposed to have some distinct sort of accent, though.

and i could have done with more a variety of music (dropkick murphys song twice, "gimme shelter" twice as well as "let it loose").

but that was an excellent movie.
