ROTK was by far my favorite book. I think the movie will probably leave me crying like a baby.

I saw the trailer yesterday at the cinema. I think my rate of movie-going might rise dramatically in these next two months, I just want to see it again and again and again,

so the running does indeed look to be 3 1/2 hours

"The 3 Ĺ hour running time is what it is at the moment. But it was made clear that itís unlikely to be any shorter than that"

The link also talks briefly about a scene near the end at the Black gate

*very minor spoilers*
I'm glad sauron is not going to show up in physical form..that is one of the coolest things about him in the book

I was wondering what they were going to do with that......

(tries to hold himself back from reading about the scene)

I read it...I will reveal nothing.

I agree, Basstrap. When the Eye fixes on the mountain...awesome! You can't mess with that!

To do otherwise has waaay too much cheese potential, since Sauron's physical form in FOTK was kind of iffy looking, in my opinion.

I'm betting it's a Ringwraith.

It's Merry who kills the Witch-King though, so perhaps more story revision is on the way?

no, I think the withc king will be killed at Minas Tirith...though maybe not by Merry.
they'll bring out some new terror for the black gate, I'm guessing.

Maybe he'll fight the mouth of sauron himself...though he looks skinny and weak and couldn't fight aragorn without a lot of power.

I say it's Tom Bombadil
