Please vote for the playlist you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the third match of the first round of the Interference Retro Island Album Game! In this competition, instead of being stranded on a desert island and seeking the best playlist to enjoy while there, we're heading off to Retro Island to savour the best that the punk/new wave genre of the late 70's and 80's has to offer.

For every win, each player will receive three points. If there is a tie, each player gets two points. If a player loses a match but is within three votes of the winner, that player will earn a single point. Current standings will be displayed at the end of each round.

We move to Group 2 for this third match, which features bono_212 and KhanadaRhodes. Below are their playlists.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each playlist flows, feel free to check out the Desert Island website. :)

Synthtastic!

Ok so the title of the play list is a joke between a friend and I, but it is no secret that I have a sick obsession with synthesizers, and the music created with such a “fantastic!” instrument. Anyways, I tried to make my list not TOO much of a greatest hits compilations, but with the little access I have to the music I love so very much, I had to make due with what I had. It was hard to cut this list down to under 80 minutes, and even now, with an extra 2.5 minutes left, I feel like I should throw something else in, but I think it’s safer leaving it like this. This is the most excited I think I’ve been about desert island since the very beginning, so I hope my list is the best I could have done, that it flows * well, and it’s enjoyable for all those listening .

Have fun!

This is a tough one for me, because it feels like both are coming from the same side of retro land. Wang Chung on both (who'd have thunk it) :)

I liked the way they both played out, so I have to go with the one with more songs that I enjoyed. Bono 212 had Roxy, New Order - true faith, ABC, Just Can't Get Enough, Dance Hall Days, Pump It Up, Rio and a couple others. Khanada had equal tracks for Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, New Order & Everybody Wang Chung tonight (a running joke at an old job, so points there :) ). But Khanada had Fire Drill which took me back to a specific concert and I had to repeat a couple times, The Changeling (which I took off my set due to time), Icehouse, and Ashes to Ashes which I love. The Thompson Twins, Taco & a Culture Club song I don't care for couldn't drag it down, cuz Bono212 had Falco, men at work and a couple others I'm not too fond of that evened things out for me. Really, a good time from both of these.

Like, Omigawd! Khanada - final answer

If I'm voting based on Wang Chung tracks, I go with bono_212's "Dance Hall Days". While I'm not a fan of the band, I do not care for 'Everybody Have Fun Tonight'. It annoyed me in the 80s and still annoys me 25 years later  But Khanada's inclusion of "Firedrill" almost makes up for her lapse of judgment here
I was singing along to it and I didn't know why. I must have it tucked away deep in my memory from the old old days  I think this needs to be added to my iPod STAT!!!

Both lists have songs I enjoy, some I don't :coughcultureclubcough: but I have to vote for Ashley here.

Both had an eclectic mix of songs and I enjoyed both lists a lot, but I think Khan's stuff fits together better and I liked it slightly more.

ABC - “Be Near Me”
All but forgotten great 80's song. There was a 9 min remix I used to play all the time.

can anyone vote on this deal?

Well, I had to think about this one. That's how close it is.

Both had great songs, and both had some I don't like. Ashley lost points for ABC and an inferior Men At Work song, while Khan had Wang Chung and Culture Club (Ashley's Wang Chung song is much better, although its placement is odd).

So for me it came down to sequencing, and which playlist seemed to be more cohesive. Khan gets the edge there, barely, so she gets my vote.

I didn't realize that DHD being last would come off as strange  I guess it's just a force of habit, it ends any mix I put it in........which is frequently :reject: that's kind of my "friends" song.
