I fell asleep during the last three songs on Homogenic, but I still gave the album a 4/5. I have no idea why I haven't relistened to it yet, I really really loved it.

Well that sucks, as All Is Full Of Love is one of my favorite Bjork songs. The version from the Best Of much more so than the album version, but both are good.

I heard that one. Maybe I went back and finished the album later :hmm:. I definitely know "All Is Full of Love" though.

"All Is Full Of Love."

Hmmm. That has a similar title to the little-known tribute song to U2's lead singer called "Paul Is Full Of Shit."

Her Greatest Hits (Bjork's Greatest Hits) compilation is actually really good for anyone who's only vaguely interested in her, or wants to become familiar. The single version of All Is Full of Love is crazily good, as I mentioned earlier, and the new song on the greatest hits, "It's In Our Hands", is really good too. It's a good overview of her important songs and works, and she even left off some of her big singles as well, which is braggable.

Bjork? I'd say Homogenic and Itsy Bitsy Vespertiney Yellow Polka Dot Bikini are my favorites. Maybe it's time to go back through that shit.

Vespertine is also a beautiful album. Few recent artists have balanced eccentricity with main stream viability so well. She reminds me of Radiohead in that regard, or perhaps Radiohead reminds me of her. In any case, she has been a sizable influence on Mr. Yorke.

Edit: looks as though Impy beat me to the Vespertine love. Nice call, sir.

Don't bother with this unless you're being a completist. As already mentioned, her first four albums are all worth hearing; very little filler, and everyone seems to have their own favorites.

Medulla is interesting, but not something one wants to hear very often. I really liked Volta because it was a lot more upbeat than the previous two albums, even if it seems like a poor man's hybrid of Post/Homogenic.

So GAF, I say just get ahold of Debut and work your way chronologically from there.

And if you're really having a good time, go back and check out the remix album Telegram, which is one of the best of its kind.

Does anyone remember when the animator behind Ren & Stimpy did one of Bjork's videos?

YouTube - Björk - I Miss You

AMAZING.

One has to wonder how many times Lance has DaffyDuck'ed himself to that clip.

Adam Claycourt talking about Glastonbury:

"We want to go back to our '90s work that plays into a certain kind of psychedelia and do something that's tailored around that, from Zoo TV to PopMart. This is the 20th anniversary of Achtung Baby so there's a nice connection there and we thought we should mark that."

Uhh, I'm hoping that they road-test some of these plans a week earlier at the Los Angeles shows.

REALLY HOPING.

To be clear, I don't want the band to turn into a 90's Shuttlecock revival act. But if the new songs are getting the boot anyway, I'd rather hear more 90's stuff than ATYCLC and Atomic Serve material.

This tour is already a failure or sorts because of the cold feet on the No Net songs and the previous setlist issues and is never really going to "work" in the traditional sense, but at least we may be exposed to some rarer or long-unplayed goodies.

I love Venus As a Boy.

When I was in rock history class, before I'd ever heard anything by Bjork, we watched the video for this song and I just sat there staring thinking, this is why I don't listen to her music. But, I'm glad I stopped being a d-bag and listened anyways.

The discussion lately has been dominated by music I've not heard. I know so little.

Homogenic. Disintegration. Get on it.

( or did you say you've heard Disintegration?)

What would you start with? I started with Disintegration and never turned back, but as we established yesterday, I'm insane.

Everyone, even people who have no business enjoying the Cure should hear Disintegration. It's their most popular and well-received record for a reason. Hell, it's a classic. That's why I always recommend it first. At least you've heard one of the great albums in alternative rock.

The Head On The Door is a good starting point if you just want to hear a fun album, plus A Night Like This is one of their best darker tracks.

Is that the Cure? I've not heard any Cure.

Yes and yes, although I would not call Head on the Door "fun." It's more like a nightmare, to me at least. Given PFan's tastes, though, he might also enjoy Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography. These are tighter albums than Disintegration, but they retain or even surpass the latter's sense of foreboding and melancholy.

Because it's a fucking downer, and if one isn't in the mood or doesn't care for it, it's going to prevent the person from hearing how eclectic the band is in terms of style.

Which is why I'd recommend Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me over it. Or better yet, Standing on a Beach (Staring At The Sea), which also showcases their range.
