Weird. I mean, the song is fun for us fan boys and girls, but a single?

Exactly.

I guess I can see the logic behind not necessarily wanting a remix as a new single, but .... this?

They want to get played on the radio, and I guess they've won. If they wanted to get some play on "classic rock" stations, which have apparently been playing the song already.

Weird, indeed.

The timing seems strange. If they wanted a single to get people excited for the new reissue, why not release the thing a couple weeks ago? Give it a chance to get on radio, or do some publicity, you know, before the thing is released. The album's already out.

I don't know, it just seems weird to push a promo single AFTER the album's already come out.

All that being said, I think it's a pretty good choice among the "new" tracks. Song is fun and catchy.

Gotcha, gotcha. Who knows, if I ever listen to it again, I may end up really being disappointed by it. I just really like her a lot, so I guess it was just like, "Yay! New Kelly!" and I was able to ignore some of the more awful parts of the album. We'll see.

Right now I'm listening to 4, which is actually the only Beyonce album I've ever heard, so we'll see how this goes. I still can't take "1+1" seriously, the way she sings on it makes me laugh every damn time.

Spin Magazine continues to pump out the lazy opinion over critique type reviews apparently.

Someone in The Other Place had a really good point about the choice of single. Of the new songs, it's the only "new" song available on the 2-disc version (i.e., the only option under $100).

I haven't seen the full tracklisting of the 2-disc version, but if that's right, then it makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, that's correct. Blow Your House Down is the only one of the new unreleased studio songs on the 2 disc guy.

Ah, the EBTTRT remix is on there too ... so they still should have could have gone with that!

Oh well.

I don't think I agree with you on that whole thing.

Even Better Than The Real Thing (even if it's a new remix or whatever) as a single? The song is 20 years old. It still gets played on the radio. That just seems very odd to me.

At least Blow Your House Down is new.

I know, it would be kind of wacky, but I see how it could work, having a revamp of a song from the reissued album, like revisiting the album. Or re-introducing it.

Although yeah, if it's still being played somewhere, then it's doubly-wacky and probably not a great idea. I haven't heard it on the radio in just about forever, but obviously that means squat.

I agree with the GAF, though I have not yet heard "Blow Your House Down" (waiting to hopefully get the thing for myself).

I mean, let's be honest, it would be cool and shiz to have EBTTRT on the radio, but U2 is trying to still release new material. To release an old song isn't going to help their future prospects, you get me?

No, I get it.

Although I'm sure being played on classic rock stations isn't exactly what they had in mind about being relevant and on the radio and all that, either.

To be fair, they're probably more concerned with something actually new being a hit, and this was just the best choice out of the options for the aforementioned reason. But I think it's funny that it's a 'classic rock' radio song (at least for now) right after all Bono's whining about the usual. A little "be careful what you wish for," maybe.
