Watching Outkast's Lolla set. The crowd sucks so fucking much. They don't deserve a full band and full setup. Even though we didn't get it last weekend, it was worth it to see 3000 smiling because the crowd was actually into it.

I think part of their problem is that they're probably the only old-school hip-hop group whose biggest tracks are (relatively) new. So they probably expect people to go off for the likes of Players Ball, Elevators, Storytellin, Hootie Hoo, when most of the crowd only knows Ms Jackson, Hey Ya and Roses. Whereas when just about every other hip-hop artist gets their biggest reaction when they go old-school.

It's REALLY hard to judge a crowd based on a webstream. I know Lolla's fallen off in the last year or two, lineup wise, but the crowds have always seemed really into it.

The first six or so songs on Hail to the Thief made me say the following out loud in my car today: Fuck! Radiohead is the greatest rock and roll band EVER!

Backdrifts is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Nice bonus last night, Sammy Hagar had Jason Bonham playing drums with him. Pretty cool watching him do the solo from Moby Dick with video of his Dad playing it on the screen behind him.

Free tix and free hotel room at the casino.

But I've seen Sammy now 3 times solo, once with Chickenfoot and 7 times with Van Halen.

He also had Michael Anthony on bass last night.

Show was a mix of Hagar era VH, Zeppelin, Sammy solo and a spattering of Montrose...well worth the price of admission (aside from Vic Johnson butchering "Poundcake")

In case you're all wondering, I have a torn UCL in my thumb, and will undergo surgery this week. Will be in a cast for 6 weeks and then comes rehab. Good times.

This guarantees I'll be at the Spoon/Arcade Fire show wearing a cast. Should be interesting in the Montreal summer humidity.

That sucks, BoMac, but maybe you could have someone film your rehab stint and edit it into a kickass training montage to cheer yourself up in the future.
