PASSION

Otherwise also ridiculously excited about the Kiaro.

Don't miss the new Pablo Larrain if you can. Supposedly his best yet. Also Leviathan which had the most amazing teaser, and two great directors behind it.

I have it on good second hand word that Tabu (Miguel Gomes of Our Beloved Month of August... remarkable film if you haven't seen it) and Barbara are both incredible as well.

And Holy Motors, well... goes without saying. Kind of the film Event of the year.

That trailer for Tabu was absolutely enthralling, so that's near the top of my list.

But yeah, Holy Motors. Nothing else coming out this year could possibly excite me more.

Starting to consider a little day-and-one-night NY trip for this again this year if I can swing/afford it. Would go any given date for Passion, Like Someone..., or Holy Motors.

Thanks for the recommendations, Lance. I'll try to check them out. There's just so much to see, and tickets are sort of expensive. I might prioritize films that won't be released commercially immediately.

Has anyone heard anything about Night Across the Street. Seeing Mysteries of Lisbon at the NYFF a couple of years ago was one of my great cinematic experiences, so I might have to check that one out.

In other news, incredibly excited about this:

I've heard fantastic things about the Ruiz, gump. Some critics have even liked it more than Mysteries of Lisbon (granted they likely aren't the ones who were head-over-heels about the latter, maybe like myself), but word it still uniformly positive. Plus I'm interested because, while not the first film Ruiz shot on DV, it seems to be the most aesthetically interesting. Definitely another I'd consider checking out if I decide to go this year.
