what's underworld like?

never heard of them...:reject:

OMG! The have been my 3rd favorite band since the late 90s! I saw them for the 2nd time on my birthday last year at The Hollywood Bowl.

I guess you would call them "Electronica", though they do some trance-y, drum 'n bass, House type stuff. They're kind of a mix of a bunch of electronic styles.

Their most famous "hit" used to end the film "Trainspotting":

Radiohead ~ In Rainbows ~ Zoots version
  1. 15 Step
  2. Bodysnatchers
  3. Weird Fishes
  4. Faust Arp
  5. House Of Cards
  6. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
  7. Nude
  8. 4 Minute Warning
  9. This Is One For The Good Days (MK1)
  10. Down Is The New Up
  11. Bangers & Mash
  12. Go Slowly
  13. Last Flowers
  14. All I Need
  15. Videotape (Basement version without the unnecessary drums)
    [/list=1]

I like the song choice, but you've gotta get some mojo in the second half apart from the meh-tastic Bangers & Mash.

Oh, and no Reckoner, but I didn't expect to see it anyway.

Well... I knew somebody would say that. But I see it more like a rocking side A and a mellow side B with a great 1-2 punch ending reminiscent of nightswimming/find the river. And I love Bangers!!

I too like a mellower side B, but your side A's a little too front-loaded. Stick Weird Fishes toward the end and I think you've got a winner. It works musically and lyrically, por ejemplo:

"Yeah everybody leaves... if they get the chance, but me, it's my chance"

But I do really like your mix.

Yeah I think I see your point. I could try to stick Weird Fishes just before All I Need. But I'm not sure how Bodysnatchers would flow into Faust... unless I do Bodysnatchers/HOC/Faust... :hmm:

I think Pearl's Girl is maybe the best electronica song I have ever heard. Second Toughest in the Infants and Beaucoup Fish are both masterpieces.

Try this:

1. 15 Step
2. Bodysnatchers
3. Jigsaw Falling into Place
4. Faust Arp
5. House of Cards
6. Nude
7. 4 Minute Warning
8. MK 1
9. Down Is the New Up
10. Bangers & Mash
11. Go Slowly
12. Weird Fishes / Arpeggi
13. Last Flowers
14. All I Need
15. Videotape

Underworld did the score for Sunshine, right? I fucking loved that.

Haha  I just tried exactly that, except I did go slowly/last flowers/weird fishes/all i need...

Yeah, I like Last Flowers -> Weird Fishes more, too.

Weird Fishes -> Reckoner is quite sweet, too, but you wouldn't know, would you?

Yeah... after the mellow go slowly and last flowers, the album picks up again one last time for the finale of weird fishes/all i need/ videotape.

Nope. But I wanted to like Reckoner. Just ain't happening. :slant:

It's cool, but I'll still give you shit for not liking it.

I really need to hear these Basement Tape songs, apparently they're really good.

And I still don't like the Ether Festival version of Weird Fishes over the album cut... apart from the strings at the end. Cathartic release > near meandering. The version of Where Bluebirds Fly is quite good though.

Yeah that Videotape is so much better than the album version, it's not even funny! And it's not just cos of the drums.

What other songs were done in the basement?

Okay, one last time...

    with thanks to LMP :hi5:

No problemo :hi5:

Down Is the New Up and Last Flowers are the only other ones I know of.

Down Is the New Up

It was my favorite of the new songs, but waned after hearing the album cut... but this Basement version is reminded me of why I loved it so much.

TOPSY-TURVY TOWN!

I torrented them off of the Jigsaw single, but I can upload them later if you'd like.

They're definitely on YouTube.

Cool. I'll look on youtube.

I'm loving this consolidated album a lot right now.

Although... side B has become really strong! Might have to switch Jigsaw and Arpeggi to even things out.

That is uncalled for and you know it.
