That's true enough I suppose. I guess I was just expecting something a bit better on all levels. I mean they've had over 4 fucking years to write and record this thing. The production isn't nearly as solid as it should be, unless they were going for that direction in certain songs, which doesn't really work too well for me.

Meh. Hopefully it's a grower.

It sounds like they went through a similar conflict as they did with HTTT. They had these bare bones, open, breathy songs, and they weren't ever entirely sure how much studio trickery they wanted to polish them with, so a lot of them come out sounding a bit ambiguous in terms of sound and tone, which still bugs the hell out of me on second listen.

The results are definitely more cohesive than on HTTT though.

Arpeggi makes me cry. For all the wrong reasons.

Reckoner is mindblowing, totally new song for me. I am beyond happy with the record so far. 20 seconds and House of Cards starts.

They didn't kill Videotape...they just didn't do much with it. It sounds like the basement tapes version to me.
