I might have been quick to expect At My Most Beautiful would make it through here. But that gets my vote as well. Suspicion is one of my favorites here, pretty much embodies what I love about this album.

Sad Professor is just They lyrics make me want to genuflect to Michael Stipe.

Sad Professor reminds me a little of Sweetness Follows (mostly in the electric guitar work), which is my favorite on Automatic.

Sweetness Follows

As far as Stipey's vocals go, in 'Sweetness Follows' his delivery is more vengeful, indicting. In 'Sad Professor' he really does get inside the character and he just sounds exhausted and defeated.

Stipey

This.

One of my favorite Stipe vocals in that track.

Also one of my favorite verses:

dear readers, my apologies.

long silence presents the tragedies
of love. note the age. get afraid.
the surface hazy with attendant thoughts.
a lazy eye metaphor on the rocks.

Yeah!! the one I want voted off is winning! That usually doesn't happen.

Suspicion and Sad Professor are both great. Wouldve been happy to see Lotus get through too.

I think it's safe to say that with about 20 minutes remaining on the poll, the two songs moving on will be Suspicion and Sad Professor.

Well done!

Now I need to figure out how to post a poll where you select several of your favorite songs or whatever. Here's hoping I get it right the first time and it's not trial and error.
