Last round, Turn You Inside-Out was eliminated.

Votes:

Turn You Inside-Out - 8
Pop Song 89 - 3
You Are The Everything - 3

I can vote on World Leader or You Are... to me they're both on the same level. Gonna wait to see what might save Pop Song.

I love these four songs. I really do. I think Orange Crush and WLP are just too strong to not make the finals, so I could go with either Pop Song or You Are...

I see what the cool kids have been voting for, so I'm finna go with Pop Song.

You Are The Everything.

Just re-listened to it, and holy shit, that song's bad. Even worse than I remembered.

This album really doesn't deserve to have three songs in the final draw. It took the very last spot of the second tier.

It does deserve three songs, but you people already eliminated the third worthy song, Stand. Now it looks like the second worthy song, Pop Song 89, is gone, while some miserable crap like You Are The Everything and an alright but not especially noteworthy song in the guise of World Leader Pretend are going through.

For the life of me, I cannot even imagine how you could call "You Are the Everything" miserable crap.

I wouldn't call it miserable crap, but it certainly isn't as good as nearly anything that has gone through so far. I think it sounds refreshing because it's surrounded by three stifling rockers that go nowhere, but in reality isn't all that much better itself. It lacks momentum, a strong hook, or anything that forces me to make an opinion about it that surpasses neutral. Not every song needs to have a hummable melody or to beat you over the head with forceful percussion or a shredding guitar riff, but R.E.M. churns out songs like You Are The Everything in their sleep, and most are more memorable.

The music's pretty bad and Stipe's vocals are truly godawful.

I don't know what anybody sees in the song.

Hah.

"Stand" is a top 3 album track and "You Are The Everything" is miserable crap. And mankind of responsible for global climate change and my mother is a reserved classy young homemaker. When the fuck did the Universe turn inside out?

Oh yeah,

Pop Song 89.

You know I'm not much of a lyrics person, but I mean, seriously?

You Are The Everything said:
Sometimes I feel like I can't even sing (say, say, the light)
I'm very scared for this world
I'm very scared for me
Eviscerate your memory
Here's a scene
You're in the back seat laying down
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine
All you hear is time stand still in travel
and feel such peace and absolute
The stillness still that doesn't end
But slowly drifts into sleep
The stars are the greatest thing you've ever seen
And they're there for you
For you alone you are the everything

Stand in the place where you live
Now face North
Think about direction
Wonder why you haven’t
Now stand in the place where you work
Now face West
Think about the place where you live
Wonder why you haven’t before

If you are confused check with the sun
Carry a compass to help you along
Your feet are going to be on the ground
Your head is there to move you around, so

Even beyond that, Stipe's vocal on YATE is so beautiful, perhaps his best singing on the album.

Plus I love that little plink-plink piano part after one of the choruses.

So you're all saying music is subjective? :shifty:

Holy shit, that's f**king brillant. :shifty:
