Driving home from work today, I saw no less than 8 motorcycle polics officers crusing 17th Street in Costa Mesa (a main drag between Costa Mesa and Newport Beach). From what I could see, people were receiving tickets for minor infractions, including bicyclists. I've lived here for years and never saw such a crack down on minor moving violations.

Then I realized, it was the end of the month.......

Quotas, in relation to moving violations, should be unconstitutional.

In fact, I think they are illegal here in Minnesota.

What kinda bikes they runnin' down there? I know NB is using BMWs. Is Costa Mesa still running Kawis?

They all looked like nice BMWs to me.

In N B they are mostly BMWs. I drove down Superior to Balboa at about 5pm. I saw about 8-10 of these guys leaving the peninsula headed towards said 17th street.

I think it could have to do with it being Halloween. They are having sobriety check points tonight and tomorrow night. One of them is the street that leaves the peninsula where there are about 15-20 bars. Like shooting fish in a barrel.
