question to smokers affected by UK ban (pubs)

if this is in wrong place, I apologise!

anyhow, it's been a few weeks now, and Im curious.

when you go out socialising, do you find yourself struggling or working at smoking very few or none at all, to stay indoors and enjoy the company you are with, rather than keep popping outside, even in rainstorms?

You know, has the ban changed you that way?

or are you just same, you just gotta do it, sometimes your mate/mates accompany you. okay, easy if they all smoke too.

but for those who smoke with none-smokers.

Well I'm not in the UK but I still have to go outside to smoke, since the ban on California, no smoking indoors, anywhere.

It's annoying but I will still go outside to smoke, even if I'm with a bunch of people.

to people who smoke.

But my mom has to go outside too.

And no, I don't smoke. I'm thirteen.

I don't worry about this anymore ... I've been 'smoke-free' for 3 and a half years now.

Although, when I used to smoke, I never thought it was polite to smoke around people who didn't. Afterall, everyone has a choice with what they decide to do ... it shouldn't be that non-smokers have to suffer just because others choose to smoke.

And that smoking ban hits the state of Illinois starting January 1, 2008. Congratulations for the non-smokers.

I am so glad that is one habit I never took on! I feel bad for smokers but then those of us who don't smoke can be just as affected by the 2nd hand smoke and the smell.

Could you please tell that some of my friends and get them to follow your example?

My mom smokes outside, not indoors with me, and my two dogs.

Just invite them over, bring up Interference and show them my original post ... that should do it.

That's really great to hear that your mom doesn't want you to breathe her smoke, second hand.

Although, some people 'pick up' the habit simply because they follow in their family footsteps.

Hopefully, this will NOT happen in your case.

That's good. When I got my cats I started smoking outside only.
I am a concious smoker. I always stand far away from non smokers and I dont blow my smoke near them either.

That's nice of you, Sicy and polite. More smokers could follow your example.

the smoking ban starts here on 10/1, i can't wait. i don't smoke and never have, but so many places around here have pathetic smoking/non-smoking sections. it's divided by a wall, so if you're sitting right by the wall, you might as well sit in smoking. i don't know how people can smoke while they eat.

all of my family is from maryland and there's been a ban there (or at least in the baltimore area) for as long as i can remember. my aunt boycotted places that were non-smoking, like it was their fault i guess i just don't get it. but i'm not trying to spark a debate or anything, i've got nothing against smokers. i just think that kind of mindset makes you miss out on a lot of great restaurants, and some places she used to eat at she boycotted because they were non-smoking.

The smoking ban's been in Singapore for about two months now. I quite enjoy going to nightspots now and not emerging smelling like a chimney.

And to all the polite smokers here.

I totally agree. I'm all for no smoking in restaurants. I dont like smelling cigarettes when I'm eating. And what's really gross is I've seen people smoking AND eating at the same time. That's just disgusting. I dont agree with no smoking in bars though. Drinks and smokes just go together.
