Go ahead and merge this thread if you must,
but this prose is payment for my loss,
my penance for the Red Wings bust...

An Ode to those Mother Duckers:

Not prepared were the Mighty Wings
for a Mighty Duck-like sting
in the form of an unceremonious sweeping,
at the hands of solid rookie goalkeeping.

Jean-Sebastian Giguere earns an 'A' letter
and his defense played even better,
smothering any player wearing a red sweater,
that?s approaching or screening the new netter.

Those fusion sticks snapped like rotten wood,
allowing that Giguere to glove real good
all those breakaways and scoring chances...
even the iron posts allayed the Wings advances.

Shame on those deadly Wing's scorers
who couldn't muster much to awaken us snorers;
those that watched the upset were in horrors
as those Ducks took upon the role of Cup dream-abhorrers.

And Federov always flashing his bling
?not even better than the real thing?
Enough with the Russian Ho?s,
Steve Rucchin made you look like a schmoe.

Hats off to the man Steve Thomas
Whose game-winners continually bombed us;
And to Paul Kariya?s prowess,
That broke down Motown?s Game One promise.

Cheers to Anaheim, you?ve gained my respect
And the accolades that dethroning a champion gets.
Honestly, Ducks you were the better team,
Out-battling that fine-tuned Red Wing machine.

For Wings fans it is truly a bummer
That these Californians will continue on as stunners,
Upsetting and contending with Stanley Cup runners
While we remove the broom from our ass during this extra long summer
