I really, really like this album. A lot. I wish Pink Floyd never would have recorded Final Cut and instead would have worked on this project together. It could have been even more fantastic. Imagine what Gilmour could have done with Sexual Revolution.   :combust:

As it is though, I have no complaints. The story is inviting and poignant, and the songs hold up their end. The man's wife making a dog sandwich was icing on the cake. Good plot twist toward the end as well. It's definitely up there with the Wall as a concept album.

Oh, and let's not forget Clapton's contributions...

awesome Waters record :up:up:..though Amused to Death is somewhat better

and No I adore "The Final Cut"...and I am happy it was recorded

Wow, most people don't like this album, even Pink Floyd fans! So I'm surprised you enjoy it so much. Most people usually rank it behind Radio KAOS. I think they're crazy, of course. Pros & Cons regularly contests Amused To Death on my personal ranking scale. Great album. Not better than The Final Cut IMO, but along a similar musical vein. If you take a close listen, you'll hear bits of The Fletcher Memorial Home and In The Flesh in Go Fishing. The great thing about this album is that you get to see Roger's sense of humour.

The Pros & Cons tour was also fantastic. Well, at least when Clapton was on for the '84 leg of the tour. Check it out!

Do a search on Roger Waters 1984 and you'll find a few more. I've got the whole show on DVD and it's awesome.

I love Pros and Cons, but I have no clue what the concept is about on this one.

I still like The Final Cut more though:

The Gunner's Dream ftw!

Basically, it's all about Roger's character having a dream about cheating on his wife with a hot German hitch hiker, and then realising in the end (after having encounters with Arabian terrorists and all sorts of other horrible things) that hey, his wife's not so bad after all. http://www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/wiki/index.php/The_Pros_And_Cons_Of_Hitchhiking

Fun fact: if you start Pros & Cons at exactly 4:30 AM and listen to the album the whole way through, all the times in the song titles match up with the actual time. (Sure, you can try this at 4:30 PM but it's not quite as entertaining. Or nerdy.)

I love random Arabian terrorists in concept albums

Have you ever done that? Because if I ever do that, someone might have to shoot me.

THERE WERE ARABS WITH KNIVES AT THE FOOT OF THE BED!

I've done it many times. It's fun. :reject:

haha, I'd do it at 4:30 PM, but not in the AM. I need my sexy sleep.

I love that lyric. Then Roger gets drunk and softcore porn follows.

I tell you, it's a very entertaining album (I'm not including the cover in this  )

Personally, I'm fond of "WOLLEN SIE TANZEN MIT MIR ODER TRINKEN BIER, HAHAHA?!?!?!?" The live versions of this song were great. Roger embellished the crazy laughing quite a bit.

The cover is so embarrassing, especially if you take it out in front of someone you don't know very well. Hahaha, oh lord, the looks I've gotten... I think Gerald Scarfe should have maybe used Reg instead.

He's sillier, but at least he isn't in the nude.

"WOLLEN SIE TANZEN MIT MIR ODER TRINKEN BIER, HAHAHA?!?!?!?" is brilliant. What does it mean?

I like Reg. He looks a bit like Roger.

WILL YOU DANCE WITH ME OR DRINK BEER, HAHAHAHA!?!?! The only good thing about taking two German courses was that it helped me to understand The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking. There's also a German innuendo in Apparently They Were Travelling Abroad. When Roger sings "I said would you like to come with me, she said something foreign under her breath" the German hitch hiker says something like "Ja, ich Liebe liegen mit [I can't pick out the last word]" The first bit means literally "Yes, I would love to lie with [etc.]" I think you can figure out the context!

That's the whole point, note the big nose and bad posture.

Good call. Thanks for the information. I like that Roger can be so random.

My pleasure. Although maybe too random. :yikes: I have ten words for you: Cyndi Lauper performing Another Brick In The Wall Part Two.

Marianne Faithfull in The Trial freaked me out :yikes:

Oh god yes. :yikes: Thomas Dolby freaked me out too. Tim Curry almost freaked me out but come on...it's Tim Curry.

The only thing that saved that debacle was that songs from the Wall were played.

Which I guess was the point.

The songs that only had Roger in them weren't so bad. One Of My Turns is fun to watch. Other than that...complete embarrassment of a show. At least it was for charity.

Speaking of randomness, have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF-AoU-iFs8 If not, watch the whole way through for hilarity.

And that is why Roger Waters and Eric Clapton should do more concerts together, along with copious amounts of alcohol. Coincidentally, that brings us back to Pros & Cons!
