I'm looking for suggestions of pre-rock music I should buy. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. But I'm not really looking for jazz. I want guitar-based music. Maybe it's blues? Rock-a-billy? I'm looking for stuff that influenced rock, stuff that it grew out of. I saw about 2 minutes of some PBS special a few months ago, and I don't know what it was about, but it was talking about a couple of guys, (don't know names, they were black americans I think) and these guys were playing some great stuff on the guitar. Anyway, I just want some new old music to listen to. If there's something good you know of, let me know.

you're probably looking for blues, probably the biggest influence on rock music. You might want to start with some anthologies and go from there. I would start searching on music sites like Amazon since there are listener's reviews and recommendations. You could also go to the House of Blues website (I think it's www.hob.com). Have fun!!! Blues are a blast
