well you should listen to it then! it's brilliant, even if it is a little overrated. it's still worth it. very worth it.

My favourite is without a doubt Silent Alarm by Bloc Party. 14 tracks and not one of them is really weak. So Here We Are, Pioneers, Like Eating Glass, This Modern Love, Luno, Compliments, Banquet... some of my favourite songs

My second favourite would have to be Interpol's Turn On the Bright Lights. love, love, love it. which, I think Interpol is coming out with a new album this year...

Hot Fuss is also very, very good. i may enjoy that one more than Funeral as well. Hot Fuss is more fun though, while Funeral feels more...important.

Franz Ferdinand and Is This It are good, but perhaps slightly overrated as well.

How many CDs will I buy? I need money for them all!

Turn On The Bright Lights is growing on me. I love the first 5 or 6 songs! Still warming up to the rest.

Also overrated are the Scissor Sisters 'Ta-dah' album, James Morrison, James Blunt, Razorlight and that Mika bloke. Not sure if some of them are big anywhere else but they rant about them here.

Oh, and Amy Winehouse who was one of the big winners at the Brit awards. Really overrated. Judging by the amount of people who ran for the doors 30 minutes early at her concert the other night she really isn't as great as they make her out to be.
Do you like anything?

Seriously!

I think Hot Fuss is definitely more appealing than Sam's Town even though the latter has a bunch of really strong tracks like When You Were Young, Read My Mind and River... My biggest problem with ST is Brandon's exaggerated vocals.

Yeah, but Oasis made Definitely Maybe, so I won't be too harsh on them.

No it's not. It's a very narrow minded view of Oasis! No offense Canadiens. I think you're funny as heck but I have to disagree with you here. Oasis have some beautiful songs (most of which are sung by Noel... shocker! ) like Little By Little, Sunday Morning Call, Don't Look Back In Anger, Going Nowhere etc. They may have a couple of beatlesque songs on every album but I think they have definitely developed a sound of their own!

And Don't Believe the Truth.

And I forgot to put Parachutes on my best debut album list because I'm not used to Coldplay releasing listenable material.

Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not (Arctic Monkeys) they're not overrated here but they're overrated by the general public. They're not bad, I like the album, but they're just normal at my eyes... I don't understand what so many people see in them...

agreed. also, the song Bones. Why would anyone make that song? My List and Why Do I Keep Counting? are incredibly dull as well. I don't know if I even managed to listen to them all the way through

Zoot, keep working on interpol. Obstacle 2 and Stella Was a Diver are two of my favourites and they're on the second half...Roland is a great, more aggressive song and Leif Erikson is just sublime. The New is the only so-so song to me, and when I'm in the right mood it can be perfect.

the bass on that album is so

the only truly great song oasis has ever written is dont look back in anger. there are some funny listenable ones among the rest, but nothing particularly interesting. they aaaaalwaaaays drown themselves out in guitar noise when they know that the song they're playing is really rather crappy.
