And other non-sensical issues to be discussed here.

First off has anybody ever heard of this alternative song hit that was mildly popular in the early 1990's?

The artists sounded a little like The Dead Milkmen .

It was a fun song w/some relevance for some folk..

Ok I'll play.

Please dont call me sicycakes, diamondsexy or supermodel#1..

.. and other such degrading names.

Thank you.

Basically this ladies-
You see this song really existed.
It was emphatic and full of angst.
The singer's screamed it like Linkin Park.
Occassionally when someone would refer to me as "dude" I would repeat the title of that song.
Immeadeatelty some people would understand and get the joke. It had an esoteric meaning.
The term 'dude' is a bit of a pet-peeve for me. Not enough for me to get my panties in a wad, but I just dont care for it.

Alot of people have pet peeves or terms that they do not care for.
I will share a funny story between JesseU2 and I that make you laugh regarding this subject perhaps little later.

Okay; as long as your panties remain intact, I will occasionally call you "dude." I think the song was a joke and they didn't mean for you to take it literally.

Here's my story, sad but true
About a girl that I once knew.
She broke my heart, I became unglued,
It all started when she called me dude

Well today I leave the psycho ward
Cause my sentence did conclude:
I had killed a man with my bare hands
Because he called me dude

The jury said that I was insane.
Temporally insane - brain strain.
But now the doctors say I'm A.O.K.
So I start my new life today.

This story starts some years ago
As I vacationed by the sea.
In the California sunshine
Just me & my baby.

I was in love feeling sky high
When a big blonde lifeguard walked by.
He looked at her, she looked at him -
I knew it was good bye.

He took her by the hand, kicked sand in my face.
She looked & laughed & said, "Later Dude!"
They were gone without a trace
And the waves echoed her laughter
And her words...Yo Later Dude.

Later that night I was in such a bad mood
Sittin' in a bar drinkin' hard, getting stewed
Thinkin' 'bout that girl & how 'bout I'd been screwed
When some guy walks in sits next to me & says
What's up dude!

I heard the word dude & I became unglued.
Slowly I turned, step by step, inch by inch
And put my hands around his neck, and I squeezed...

DON'T CALL ME DUDE!

So that's how I got where I am
But this ain't where it ends.
The doctors said they cured me
I said good bye to my crazy friends.

I was smiling as i left that place
My life had been renewed.
The guard at the gate, he stamped my pass
And he said, "Yo Later Dude!"

Slowly I turned...

I'm everyone - I feel used,
I'm everyone - I need you,
I'm everyone - hang your label on me,
I'm everyone - Paint it black and white and easy,
I'm everyone - Sticks in me,
I'm everyone - Sticks with me,
I want perfection - I'm real need,
I've seen attention - See through me,
Call on me - Spin spin sugar
Crawl on me - Spin spin sugar
Stinks on me - Spin spin sugar
Twists for me - Spin spin sugar

I've seen attention - See through me,
I want perfection - I'm real need,
I'm everyone - Sticks in me,
I'm everyone - Sticks with me,
Call on me - Spin spin sugar
Crawl on me - Spin spin sugar
Stinks on me - Spin spin sugar
Twists for me - Spin spin sugar

So anyhow the JesseU2 and Diamond story at the supermarket.

Jess and I were at Price Club recently.
Price Club is a large discont store/chain where you buy bulk food at a reasonable discounted price. Basically a no frills large warehouse operation.

So we're trudging along thru the aisles, picking up our various wares, bantering back and forth and I accidently refer to JesseU2 as "buddy". Jesse DOES NOT like this term of endearment. He has politely asked me to not call him that-in the past. Its a pet-peeve of HIS. But I accidently slipped..
and he ..(too be cont..)
**Customer here at work.

....and he gives me a wincing/flinching look clearly illustrating his displeasure of my utterance of the term -"buddy". I quickly apologize.

A little later, I dont know why I slip up again and call him buddy. Jesse deadpans at me and gets in my face and says-
"Whatever ya say DOOOOOOOOOODE!!"..w/a righteous cheeseball grin...

This was a little funny'
sort of,
BUT-

What did I really learn from this?

We all have terms or names that bug us.
Maybe w/should work hard at respecting each others boundries..
I dunno
Thoughts?

True enough Dimon, but we usually don't know what that is until it is too late and the person is already pissed by the time they tell us.

I for one don't think I have any names that get to me, but I used to.
(late)
