It’s that time again! As 2007 draws to a close, Interference main page editors Andy Smith and Kimberly Egolf will be developing an-end-of-the-year round-up to note the best music released since January first.

The end-result will be something like (or something a little different than) this piece that Andy and Carrie Alison posted at the end of last year: http://forum.interference.com/a171077.html

And like last year, the editors want input from those that post in ‘Just the Bang and the Clatter’.

So, let’s use this thread to post our best-albums-of-2007 lists. Post your top 10, your top 20, or your top whatever. Explain and justify your choices if you like (or not). Annotate your lists with key tracks if you like (or not). Post the best-of-lists from your favorite music blog or zine if you like (or not).

Let the listing begin!!!

Since your editors moonlight as English professors, I expect the absolute earliest we will compile our year-end thingy is after our final grades for school are done (for me, December 7), and it will more likely appear on the site at the very end of December.

So, take your time and have fun.

You inclusion of the weakest track off Volta on your standouts list is disturbing, young one.

I was disappointed with Volta, but really dug that track. Get your smiting stick ready.

Pfft, when don't I have my smiting stick at the ready?

When you're looking at pictures of The Zooey. HIGH-OH.

Anyway, my experience with Volta was probably like your experience with In Rainbows, to put it into perspective.

Some of my favourites from 2007 (in no particular order):

Stars:In Our Bedroom After The War

The National: Boxer

Arcade Fire: Neon Bible

Kanye West: Graduation

Bloc Party: A Weekend In The City

The White Stripes: Icky Thump

Band of Horses: Cease To Begin

Radiohead: In Rainbows

Magic by Bruce Springsteen
Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Graduation by Kanye West (maybe the first hip hop album I've been able to get into)
All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone by Explosions in the Sky
Icky Thump by The White Stripes

All of these have been mentioned, but deserve to be re-mentioned. Especially "Magic." It's now my second favorite Springsteen album ever.

Band of Horses- Cease To Begin

Satellite Party - Ultra Payload

I know Atlas is fucking sick, but in what universe is it better than Fake Empire?? That really hurt my feelings :grumpy:

I say you start the Best Films thread and let the mods add a sticky later.

It was an arbitrary rating really, they both kick ass.

That's a good idea, I might start one a little later though because of some really promising December releases, I dunno.

Yea whatever. Boxer is one of the top albums of 2007. Better recognize!

Good point. Though there are quite a few movies due out for limited release in December that I probably won't catch til next year :grumpy:

You're going to love Juno, by the way

Ok, I exaggerate. Though I am liking Boxer much more than I originally did, I still have to admit it was a bit disappointing from how highly I regarded the rest of their catalog.

I'm dying to see Battles live, though :shifty:

You'll just end up watching the drummer play the whole time, he's ridiculously amazing. Pretty crazy live show, half the time I was just wondering how they were making the sounds they were playing.

Great list, great question.

I see no reason not to do best films, and I only wish one or more might step up to do film and DVD reviews for Intermedia on the main page.

I know my favorite movie is Into the Wild and that the Eddie Vedder soundtrack will rank somewhere on my list.

From what I've seen here, I already have some things I need to listen to before I make my music list which will be long since I've listened to so much this year.

Thanks for revving up this thread, y'all!!

In no particular order...because I just can't decide:

1. Ryan Adams - Easy Tiger
2. The White Stripes - Icky Thump
3. Jesse Malin - Glitter In The Gutter
4. Tegan & Sara - The Con
5. Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
6. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank
7. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
8. Interpol - Our Love To Admire
9. Feist - The Reminder
10. Lucinda Williams - West

I keep forgetting to pick up the new Lucinda Williams album. I just bought a bunch of CDs, but I already feel like I could go out and buy a bunch more.

Best Buy is on my way home :shifty:

I'm not quite ready to make my list yet, but I've really been enjoying the I'm Not There soundtrack. I'm hoping to get out to see the movie this weekend.
