Ironically enough, I just found an old taped game I had of Wayne's last visit to GM Place in Vancouver -- the NY Rangers vs. Pavel Bure and the Canucks. It was Messier's first game against his old team after signing with Vancouver, and everyone in Van expected Mess to light it up. Well, Gretz skated circles around Bure and the whole team, notching a hat trick (his 50th), completely ruining Mess's big night. I'm not kidding you, he could have had 8 or 9 points quite easily. His 3rd goal looked like something out of a cartoon, Canuck defencemen and Kirk McLean all on their back flailing away. It was a sight to behold

Anyway, final scoring summery:

Pavel Bure: 1 assist

Wayne Gretzky 3 goals, 2 assists for 5 points.

How mortifying for Pavel and Mark.
