Pete Townshend is innocent. A lot of media hype surrounded Townshend when he was arrested a few months back on suspicion of possessing child pornography. Even though Pete insisted he was innocent, that he was as horrified as anyone that child pornography existed, many media personalities, news publications, and everyday people alike quickly jumped to conclusions, and assumed that he was guilty, that Pete Townshend was a pedophile. Well, he?s not, and he?s been cleared. However, I highly doubt his innocence will make much noise in the mainstream media, so, I?m asking all of you to cut and paste this post, and email it to everyone you know. Kind of a grassroots movement to get the word out that Pete is innocent. So please, help him out and pass this along. It would be a shame if his reputation was tarnished by something that isn?t true. LONG LIVE THE WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Pete Townshend to be 'given a caution'

Rock star Pete Townshend will not be prosecuted for possessing child pornography, it was reported today.

The Who guitarist, 57, is expected to get a formal police caution, after insisting he accessed a child porn website as part of a research project into the horrors of the paedophile trade.

Sources say the decision came after detailed examinations of computers seized during a raid at his Richmond home.

Insiders say it now appears "highly unlikely" he will face a court appearance. Townshend's credit-card details had appeared among 7,272 names handed to police by the US Postal Inspection Service.

The charges he had faced - of possessing, making and incitement to distribute indecent images of children - could have led to up to five years in jail.

it really sucks that his name got drug through the mud so badly with the child porn suspicions. i always believed he was innocent. i'm glad to hear he's being cleared of all the charges. however, even though he's been proven innocent, you know now any time the who or pete townhend is brought up, someone will most likely bring up this thing.

I'm glad he's been cleared. I didn't think he did anything wrong. Some people will probably keep on dragging his name through the mud, but they're the hardened cynics anyway. I'm just glad I was right. Long live the Who, indeed!

Good point. My dad is an opera nut and loves Wagner, even though he despises Wagner's proto-Nazi politics. You can think Artist X is a and love their music.
