Need to add:
10,000 Maniacs/Natalie Merchant - Because the night. Does anyone know if this was originally a Springsteen song? Or did he co-write it with her? He's associated somehow and I can't work out why.
Bruce wrote it
Patty Smith first recorded it

10,000 Maniacs covered it

:D

if perfect songs would exist than Brian Wilson would have written them

we're not talking about opinions
we're talking about the perfect song
if something like that would exist it would haev been done by Brian

I think that a lot of the songs already posted are or are just about perfect...and I also think that even more are probably far from perfect; but that's just me.

That said, I'd like to toss in two songs which I don't think have yet been mentioned. I don't know that there are too many "perfect" songs, nor do I think that either of these songs is the greatest ever recorded....but I think they're pretty fucking good and I do think that, given what they are, they are as close to perfect as can be.

"Incident on 57th Street" by Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band

"Disorder" by Joy Division

GREAT music, right there.

bohemian raphsody

a "perfect" song to me is one that you could not possiably ever improve, it is 100% perfect in it's current form.

one therefore wouldn't be a perfect song... live versions, i.e. modena, are as good if not better than the studio recording. same goes with streets.

black by pearl jam is close, but again... the live version takes it to a whole 'nother level.

in my opinion, bohemian raphsody can't be improved on... it's a great studio recording, i couldn't think of anything that i would cut, change or add. no one can ever cover it. it's perfect.

No, instead he was responsible for California Girls or whatever the hell it's called.

:inpainninja:

because the music to California Girls was to simple for our dear Brian he decided to write one of the greatest intro's known to mankind to make up for that

in that way California Girls has something in common with Talking Head's Road To Nowhere

if there's something like a perfect song it would be Good Vibrations, Wouldn't It Be Nice or God Only Knows though
