Yeah, he's ok now. He was in for a procedure with his prostate, as he has cancer there. The procedure is a seed implementation that fights off the cancer, but at one point immediately after, his blood pressure got way too low, and he started acting incoherently. I wasn't there at the time, but my mother noticed the problem right away and called for the doctor. Luckily, he recovered ok. But what caused the problem is troubling.

Last year, and I posted this in my journal at the time, it was discovered he had lung cancer (which is not surprising as he smoked for years), so he had to have surgery on that, but when they did some tests beforehand, they found that coronary arteries were almost all blocked. So first, he had to have quadruple bypass surgery. Then a month later, he had surgery to remove the cancer in his lung.

Well, long story short, he then got cancer in the prostate, which led to this procedure on Thursday. Then the TIA happened, and they found a problem with an blood artery in his brain. The cause? A foreign substance, determined to be something METAL. The line of thinking is it must be a tiny piece that got caught in the blood stream from one of those surgeries last year. Can you fucking believe that shit?

So now he has to go to a specialist. Apparently there are like four people in the entire country that know how to deal with this. Luckily, one is located just north of Boston. They are scheduling an appointment with him tomorrow.

Unreal.

Fuck, Phanan, sorry about all of that. Must be terribly hard on you all.

I wish him and your family nothing but the best.

Well that's not fucking retarded. I wish you and your grandfather the best of luck, man.

phanan, i am so sorry :depressed: that's so terrible that any time he goes in for one thing, something else terrible happens. thank god they've caught all this, at least. but damn. i'm glad to hear there's a specialist to close to there, and he doesn't have to go across the country for his treatment.

Thanks everyone. They don't think it will require brain surgery, which would be very good news. But we need to go over all the options. Needless to say, we need to be very careful that his blood pressure doesn't get very low.

what'chall doin tonight?

Maya, there is a thread in LS that's just calling your name.

ok for real, wtf. are you stalking me? my roommate, whom i introduced myself to as "MIA" in person weeks ago, started calling me Maya last week. Today at some obscure Panera in OH, I told them my name was MIA, and the same girl called up my order as "Maya". it's catching on! i'm not even going to know my own name anymore.

Predicament: My parents forbid texting and refuse to get a texting plan for that reason, but there's really no other way girls like to communicate anymore.

1) Cut a hole in a box

2) Find the thread I refer to

3) I've been calling you Maya since the Fall, woman

When NSW hits Philly, he should lay a smack down on them. I'm just saying. Texting is the only way I can get a hold of anyone nowadays.
