The selfish theyre all standing in line...
Faith in their hope and to buy themselves time.
Me, I figure as each breath goes by,
I only own my mind.

The north is to south what the clock is to time.
Theres east and theres west and there everywhere life.
I know that I was born and I know that Ill die.
The in between is mine. I am mine.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with time...
Were different behind the eyes, theres no need to hide.
Were safe tonight.

The ocean is full cause everyones crying,
The full moon is looking for friends at high tide.
The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrows denied.
I only know my mind. I am mine.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with time.
Were different between the lines, theres no need to hide...
Cause were safe tonight.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with time.
Were different behind the eyes, theres no need to hide.

And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with lies.
Were different behind the eyes.
Were safe tonight.

I've been thinking about start listening to Pearl Jam but I don't know where to start... Any ideas? They just never got to me but I decided to give it a go...

You can't go wrong with Ten (for the hits) and Vs. (for the gems), also, many love Vitalogy for its uniqueness. My favorite will always be Ten, but the others aren't too shabby either.

There's always the Rearviewmirror compilation. Even though it's 2 discs, it's modestly priced.

I think Binaural is an interesting pic to suggest a new comer. Personally I think vocally it's the weakest of their catalog. But I'm a voice junkie...

It might be weird but I'm of the opinion that you should expose a new comer to a band's most popular album alongside their most creative album. Binaural is pretty weak vocally but I think the songwriting and sound of the album really elevate it.

It's definately still a good album. And lyrically Vedder showed up but vocally it just sounded like he was bored. It's always pissed me off for that reason. But Sleight of Hand and Soon Forget

this song is indeed wonderful on so many levels.

not the biggest pearl jam fan, but this song is great.

It's no Even Flow

Prefer The Beatles: All through the day, I Me Mine I Me MIne I Me Mine

I'm thankful it's not Even Flow

Funny you mention the Beatles, because I Am Mine always had that kind of vibe for me. It's a great song--especially live. It might just be Eddie's most self-affirming, yet life-affirming, creation to date.

Wonderful song, especially love the little McCready solo at the end (proof that he can be a great melodic guitarist sometimes).

this is by far my favourite pearl jam song.

there doesn't exist any pearl jam song better than this. period.

no code

do not start with Ten... you know half the songs as it is, anyway.

perhaps one of the official live boots is a nice start as well... one of the mansfield shows, or a gorge show, or the MSG show that was taped for the DVD.

but don't start with Ten... that's too easy.
