If we're using 17 tracks, here's mine, rather different from JOFO's (and difficult to narrow to 17)
1. State of Love and Trust
2. Alive
3. Black
4. Evenflow
5. Go
6. Animal
7. Rearview Mirror
8. Spin the Black Circle
9. Tremor Christ
10. Whipping
11. Hail Hail
12. Habit
13. Brain of J
14. Do the Evolution
15. Given to Fly
16. Nothing as it Seems
17. Insignificance

And of course we'd need the obligatory B side bonus CD to include Yellow Ledbetter, Footsteps, Wash, Alone, Sonic Reducer, U, and a few others.

All good choices, but I wonder why no one has mentioned their two highest charting hits "I Got Id", and the cover of "Last Kiss"?

Last Kiss was their highest charting single (A sad reflection on the charts, ala Aerosmith's first #1 single being "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing ), but I don't recall I Got Id having a huge chart impact. It can go on the B sides bonus disc.

i do not think you would be able to include any songs released after their "5 against 1" CD.

I have a book called "Billboard Top 40 Hits" by Joel Whitburn, and it listen all the Pearl Jam songs that cracked the Top 40. "Tremor Christ", "Better Man" both reached the top 40, while "I Got Id" made it to #7 (maybe it was based solely on high sales figures rather than airplay) and Last Kiss went to #2 for a week.
