Passport help!

So I've been all talk about going to Dublin........major problem though.....I still don't have a passport. I have the application but I just haven't done it yet.
My question for all of you......how long does it take to get a passport? I'm not going until the end of September or October.
Someone mentioned six months, I thought it was more like six weeks.
What do any of you know??

It's more like six weeks. Go to http://travel.state.gov/passport_services.html and download the application. Print it out, fill it out, go get your picture taken and then take it down to the nearest location that is authorized to accept them. (the site should have that info).
