I'm pretty glad I missed Enchanted. These two songs are terrible.

They reminded me of The Little Mermaid soundtrack. I watched that thing a million times while babysitting my sister.

Yes! That's really all I know her from. I love the soundtrack, with the songs of her singing with the band, like in the movie.

(what a poorly constructed sentence)

that Atom Egoyan (Canadian, too -I think)
makes one hell of a film

I dug the soundtrack, too

downloaded most of it.

Oh, duh - weren't they written by the same guys? Menken/Schwartz? Or did one of those two die some years ago? Hmm. At least one of them wrote these newer songs.

Mm, vodka might be a good idea, Thora. I also have some butterscotch chip cookies I made earlier.

And that Melissa Etheridge song sucked. Dreamgirls was overrated, but something from it should have won out of the nominees.

I remember the year English Patient won pretty much everything, and the new song from Evita won best song, and Andrew Lloyd Weber was just about to burst with happiness. "I'm so glad The English Patient didn't have any songs!"

Sam Adams, ftw!

Cori - definitely break out the vodka. I'm tempted to have another, but I should wait until I have some food ready.

Howard Ashman, Mencken's former lyric partner, died in '91.

If he can last 10 years

Clooney would be the perfect replacement

(for womanizing jokes)

How could anyone sit through Enchanted without wanting to off themselves I'll never know. I had to mute the second song.

Maybe I've become curmudgeonly.

No, no, that's crazy talk. The movie blows.

I didn't know it had a Little Mermaid connection...interesting.

That song soooo sucked. It's almost sacrilegious to say it, because it's about saving the planet...but, man, she's capable of so much more than that.

I LOVE that Kathy Bates won for Misery.

Ditto Frances McDormand for Fargo.

... and oh my god, shut up, crying Halle Berry.

Those sound awards are total horseshit.

The nominees weren't too great though either so fuck it.

Holy shit, lead actress ALREADY?

Go Marion
Go Marion
Go Marion
Go Marion

(closes eyes, crosses fingers)

I would really like to see Away From Her. It'll be a rental.

Oh come on, she did more in La Vie en Rose than just lip sync. That's the clip they pick? :tsk:
