Now we move on to Orange Free State, South Africa, which was an independent Boer republic in southern Africa during the second half of the 19th century, and later a British colony and a province of the Union of South Africa. It is the historical precursor to the present-day Free State province. Extending between the Orange and Vaal rivers, its borders were determined by the United Kingdom in 1848 when the region was proclaimed as the Orange River Sovereignty, with a seat of a British Resident in Bloemfontein. Also, it is a tribute to Maya's orange & vodka habit.

The Orange Free State is the historical predecessor to South Africa's current Free State. Its name derives from the Orange River and from the Dutch House of Orange. Unfortunately, oranges are not free in the Orange Free State. However, if the orange juice is downstairs, Mia's screwdrivers become orange-free.
