Old Farts Question

Does anyone remember the author of the childrens book that was around in the sixties/seventies. It was a Japanese book about a little mermaid (but not THAT little mermaid) who lost her mum and spent her time painting candles in the basement before some evil American came and put her in a side show until she escaped and was eventually found by her Mum?

Or sumfin to that effect anyway.

Ditto. We are running evacuation exercises at Uni this week. I think I will change the programme so we evacuate Japanese Studies and I can accost the staff at the fire panel.

Or I can book the boys from Daglish Fire Station to park their big red truck out the front. That usually brings the girls (and boys) outside.
