There are only certain numbers that can come from the math that is done. All of those numbers have the same symbol. Each time the game starts over, the symbols are reassigned to different numbers so that the symbol of your result will be different.

when you subtract the sum of the digits from a 2-digit number, you ALWAYS get a multiple of nine.

if you look on the chart, all the multiples of nine have the same symbol: the one that comes up in the crystal ball.

try it without doing any of the math:

- find the multiples of 9 in the chart and note the symbol beside them (they will all have the same one)
- click the crystal ball
- voila! there's your symbol!
