This is the OFFICIAL thread for the best releases of 2004. The stipulations are that albums picked have to have been released (in the U.S.) this calendar year.

Examples of albums released in 2003 that won't count:

Muse - Absolution
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell

Examples of imports from last year that saw a US release in 2004 (these can be used as picks):

The Coral - Magic And Medicine
Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner

If you have questions about an album's release date, either ask here or check http://www.allmusic.com before you post.

Second, this is a top 10 list. So only lists with 10 clearly marked will be counted. You can write down more than 10 if you want, but only the top 10 will count. Please refrain from posting lists with less than 10. They will not be counted at the end of the year. If you don't rank the albums, I'll just start at the top, count that as #1, and work down from there.

Point systems will be 10 for 1st, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd, etc etc. In the case of ties on a person's list, the point total will be split. (Ex. two tied for first will receive 9.5 points instead of 10) After the end of the year, we'll tabulate the winner(s). Dec. 31st is the deadline.

If you've posted your list already and noticed that you've forgotten an album or two, please go back and edit your original post instead of making a new list. This is to prevent lists being counted more than once for one person. Again, the FINAL deadline is Dec. 31st. Any lists posted on the 1st or later will not count towards the final vote.
