agree/disagree?

I soooo wanted to include The Importance Of Being Idle but couldn't! :scream:

Oops, I just noticed that there was an Oasis Top 10 thread back in October of last year! :reject:

Well, the mods can delete this thread if they want! Or just not add it to the Band Index.

Anyway, now that DBTT has been out for even longer.. perhaps people's tastes have changed? :hmm:

Acquiesce
Some Might Say
SuperSonic
Rockin' Chair
Love Like A Bomb
My Big Mouth
A Bell Will Ring
Alive
Champagne Supernova
Let's All Make Believe

No particular order...

That will change heaps by tomorrow...

I never realized what's so great about Wonderwall but okay...

It's not easy but I'll try:

1. The Masterplan
2. Some Might Say
3. Live Forever
4. Acquiesce
5. Champagne Supernova
6. Mucky fingers
7. Stand by Me
8. Rock n' roll star
9. Little by little
10. Supersonic

:applaud: Zoots.

In no particular order:

Idler's Dream
Beautiful and so unOasisy.

Don't Look Back In Anger
I really do think that the album version is perfection.

Love Like A Bomb
Contender for best song off DBTT?

The Hindu Times
Love it. Very rock and roll.

Sad Song
A lovely song.

Bring It On Down
I can't believe how often this song gets overlooked. Possibly the rockiest song off Definitely Maybe. A great vocal from Liam, fantastic lyrics (Loved Noel's reaction when he talked about the lyrics on the Definitely Maybe DVD. ) and Tony's drumming actually adds to the song!! ;)

My Big Mouth
From one drummer to another. The main reason I love this song is because of Alan White's drumming especially at the end.

Where Did It All Go Wrong?
One of the strongest songs from SOTSOG. Slightly suffocated as part of the album due to it's downbeat nature on an album that was already chock full of sad songs. But stand it alone (and like many of the SOTSOG songs) it works so much better.

Half The World Away
I never tire of this song. Great to sing along to too.

Whatever
The thing that lifts this song up is Liam's vocal. He really, really means it and that sincerity comes across loud and clear.

And this is what I put in the October thread when I was clearly feeling very enthusiastic!

Oasis AND lists?!! :hyper:

1. The Masterplan (great lyrics)
2. Let There Be Love (one of the classic vocal performances from both brothers)
3. Talk Tonight (Love it. So thoughtful, tender and reflective)
4. Underneath the sky (One of their best intros ever IMO)
5. Don't Look Back In Anger (Possibly perfection. Gets even better on FTM when the crowd sing the chorus)
6. Half The World Away (The song that got me into the band)
7. Whatever (Not so sure about the "get on the bus" bit but it's a great tune nonetheless)
8. Supersonic (The high vocal of the bridge is fantastic)
9. My Big Mouth ( the ending)
10. Idler's Dream (Beautiful, simply beautiful  )

Honourable mentions: Everything else they've done. The fact we all chose so many different songs for our top ten shows their wide appeal. And also, Headshrinker. The song to play people when they argue Liam can't sing, followed by Little James (ignore the lyrics, the vocal people, it's all about THAT vocal!) or Let There Be Love.

Yeah, I like, Nay, LOVE the B-sides! ;) (though didn't reckon a lot to Lyla's B-sides. Eyeball Ticker?? Were The Importance of Being Idle ones any better?)

But I like everyone else's lists too. To be honest I think you could have selected any 10 Oasis songs and I'd have loved the list. That's how much I love this band. :scarilyobsessedsimilie:

1. Cigarettes and alcohol
2. Fuckin' in the bushes
3. The importance of being idle
4. Whatever
5. Turn up the sun
6. Magic pie
7. Supersonic
8. The Hindu times
9. Lyla
10. Little James

 I was listening to Be Here Now on friday after a long time. Certain songs on it are quite underrated.

I find it interesting that many people are mentioning The Masterplan and Acquiesce in particular. I haven't really listened to them enough and I only have the live versions. I'll have to get Masterplan sometime.

I'd have Rock n roll star instead of Stand by me but i can't claim to have heard the latest album but i almost bought it a few weeks back but maybe i'll get it this week :hmm:

Talk Tonight

Cigarettes and Alcohol

The Masterplan

Cast No Shadow

Supersonic (if for no other reason, for these great lines: I'm feeling supersonic /give me gin and tonic/You can have it all but how much do you want it?)

Don't Look Back In Anger

Morning Glory

Slide Away

Champagne Supernova

- Acquiesce
- Wonderwall
- Champagne Supernova
- Don't Look Back in Anger
- Some Might Say
- Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
- Whatever
- Sad Song
- Half the World Away
- Morning Glory

Choose just 10?? You sick, twisted individual :tsk:

Okay.. I'll give it a shot:

10. Let's All Make Believe(underrated and overlooked :madwife: )
9. The Masterplan
8. Rock N Roll Star
7. Whatever
6. Some Might Say
5. Cigarettes And Alcohol
4. Fuckin' In The Bushes
3. Supersonic
2. Listen Up(Oasis-y b-side goodness  )
1. Live Forever

all of this Oasis talk will prly have me re-doing my Oasis playlist. :|

We should try and compile an Oasis best of, cause no doubt there will be one eventually. There's so worthy songs that could go on it so it would be highly contentious.

It should be within 80 minutes and include approx 4 mins, for a previously unreleased promo single.

I have a 2 cd one. Here it is:

1 // Morning Glory
2 // Acquiesce
3 // Fuckin' in the Bushes
4 // Cum on Feel the Noize
5 // Some Might Say
6 // Underneath the Sky
7 // (It's Good) to Be Free
8 // Live Forever
9 // The Importance of Being Idle
10 // Lyla (Edit)
11 // Sunday Morning Call
12 // Don't Go Away
13 // Wonderwall
14 // Don't Look Back in Anger
15 // Sittin' Here in Silence (On My Own)
16 // Let There Be Love
17 // All Around the World

1 // Turn Up the Sun
2 // Mucky Fingers
3 // The Hindu Times
4 // Eyeball Tickler
5 // Slide Away
6 // Listen Up
7 // Stay Young
8 // Little by Little
9 // Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
10 // The Masterplan
11 // Idler's Dream
12 // Whatever
13 // Sad Song
14 // Half the World Away
15 // Champagne Supernova (Edit)
16 // D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman?
17 // Going Nowhere

That's the best I could come up with, maybe we could make a Singles/Album songs disc, and a B-sides disc too.

but the b-sides would be better than the album tracks

Nice list LMP! Interesting to see a (what I consider kinda obscure) song like Don't Go Away in there. Come to think of it, Be Here Now is a pretty forgotten album.. even by Oasis fans.

Nobody's mentioned "Go Let It Out" yet, so I have to drop that in there as a favorite

Good one. Other notable omissions:

Columbia!!!!!!
Gas Panic
Who Feels Love

Back
Top Bottom
