Lynne Mooney, a Cambridge scholar, has identified the scribe who transcribed Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" in the 1390's. The scholar says the scribe's full name was Adam Pinkerton. Up until now, the scribe has been known only as "Adam". He was the son of a landowner in Surrey. His surname was a place name in Surrey, the scholar says. Chaucer found him very difficult to work with. The guy apparently was always making mistakes which the poet had to fix.
