Now we arrive in Ngāruawāhia for another serving of syllable soup. This town is located on the Waikato River in - funnily enough - the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. The mouthful of a name means "open the food pits" in Maori. It was briefly known as Newcastle after the British invaded the Waikato in 1863. It is home to the Maori Kingitanga. In 1998, there was a fucking impressive railway accident here, with wagons piled up on the Waikato River bridge.
