Before Kraft bought the team, the team was a joke and the stadium was 1/3 full, but not since then.
True enough. I was getting my years mixed up. My first true Pats memory was being one of about five people on those metal benches drinking hot chocolate. I was about 14 making it around '90.

It's worth it for the Bill Simmons archives alone.

Ah the good old Hugh Millen/Dick MacPherson days.
Didn't Dick MacPherson play "Coach" on Cheers?
I remember one Herald headline after a loss during the Millen era:

"Hugh-Millenating"

I remember attending one game where they almost beat the 49ers, but Millen was picked late on a potential game winning drive (and then friggin' Irving Fryar made a shoestring tackle on the DB preventing a TD and it cost me a bet on the over as the Niners just had to kneel out the clock).
The team kept showing you signs that they were turning things around and Millen had flashes, but they had so many friggin holes throughout the lineup.

They actually were decent in 1991 - it looked like they were starting to turn things around. But they reverted to form in 1992.

In hindsight, that was a good thing.

Headache, I don't think you really 'remember' the Colts leaving Baltimore in early '84 since you were only 3 years old. There was a story behind it, the team didn't even want to go. The owner and the city couldn't agree on a new stadium, and they had to leave by a certain date or be charged for it again. Yes, Bob Irsay was a jerk, and the team often suffered for it. His son Jim and Bill Polian have turned it back to respectability.

The irony is that Baltimore NEVER built the promised stadium before securing another team many years later, and what team did they get? After whining over someone taking their team, they ended up taking someone else's team (The Ravens are the original Cleveland Browns with a new name, the current Browns are an expansion team Cleveland got as a replacement)

Yes, but Baltimore got that fabulous CFL team as a replacement.
