NFL 2014 Thread

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I have been a big time Foles supporter because of my virulent hate for Michael Vick, but he's pretty clearly not the long term solution so I don't know what the fuck the Eagles do after this season.

Our loss today is already being pinned on RG3 by the fanbase despite a blocked punt for a TD, a blocked extra point and two redzone fumbles he wasn't responsible for. Meanwhile, he completed over 75% of his passes and threw for over 250 yards.

He had a great year, but the criticisms of him (as well as the credit given to Kelly's system) are legitimate. He needs to improve his decision making and accuracy and both looked awful today. He got credit for being "a smart player" essentially because he's white, even though he holds the ball way too long and often completely ignores wide open receivers downfield. And now he's not going to be behind an excellent offensive line as the best guard in football in Evan Mathis may have torn his MCL today. I'm not totally giving up on him (this is definitely a bit of an overreaction as a result of drinking heavily since somewhere early in the second quarter) but I need to see a lot more to believe he's the answer.

The problem, of course, is that this is a league with 32 teams and there are nowhere near 32 franchise quarterbacks out there.

I need the following to happen...

463 Saints +1 (at Atlanta 1pm)
476 Bears -6.5 (vs Buffalo 1pm)
471 Raiders +4.5 (vs Jets 1pm)
484 Bucs +1.5 (vs Carolina 4pm)
488 Broncos -6.5 (vs Colts 8pm)
489 Giants +4 (at Lions MNF)

... for a solid 2 grand payout on a $40 bet.

So far still very much alive

Do you get anything for going 0 for 6?

But the NFC East has the most Primetime games, right?

Cowboys suck, Washington probably sucks. Eagles are going to be good. We don't know about the Giants but they had their struggles in preseason. Still, if these teams keep struggling hopefully they flex some out of SNF. Still some ways to go.

I get your point, but the markets involved will always win out. Ratings always win.

Normally the division is amongst the best... it just looks pretty bad right now.

Then again, everyone other than Seattle looks pretty meh thus far.

He stumbled on one of the handoffs which was fumbled. He was sacked 3 times and had only around 2 yards rushing. That was rare two years ago.

I watched the whole game, and as an outside party to the Redskins/NFC East, I gotta say, RG3 did some things wrong, but those sacks were not all his fault. Two of them that I witnessed were absolutely because the O-Line shut down. Roy Helu, specifically, was the cause of two majorly awful plays I witnessed. The biggest problem I had with RG3 was him running backwards from the pocket after about 1 second on half the plays. That's gotta stop. Other than that, though, I didn't think that he was the problem. I didn't think Morris was the problem, either, I think that fumble basically happened because there were about 10 people on him. Maybe on that one RG3 shouldn't have handed it off, I don't know. But I definitely thought Helu was the biggest problem in the game, at least his blocking was, from my perspective.

The ball ended up in Morris' gut, so there's no reason to put it on Griffin. Even Gruden said Morris juggled it. I have no words for putting Tyler Polumbus on JJ Watt 1-on-1. Laughable.

Griffin's primary issue was his propensity to leave the pocket too quickly. I watched every down; he made the throws that were called, but his skill position players let him down. Don't even get me started on the special teams blocking. Fuck, we're terrible.

The league office claims they never saw the video from inside the elevator.

For Goodell's sake they better not be lying. If he saw it and gave a 2 game suspension, he should resign.

Secondly... If law enforcement saw that and Rice isn't in jail, whoever was in charge of the investigation should also lose his/her job.

I find it impossible to believe that this video wasn't available to law enforcement if the outside the elevator video we saw months ago was. Maybe the NFL didn't see this, but I have some doubts about that as well, but for sure law enforcement saw it.

Peter King said back in July that they had seen the video, so someone lied.

Also, were Atlantic City's hands tied if Janay did not press charges? I'm not well versed in this part of the law.

The AG can always decide to press charges on his/her own if they feel the evidence is strong enough.

We'll see on the video, as far as who saw it and who didn't. A casino hiding a video featuring a celebrity doing something horrible isn't exactly hard to believe. That this video came out a week after said casino went bankrupt and closed it's doors, laying off all employees, is also not surprising.

Wow...that's absolutely fucked up. When they said he knocked her "out cold" I thought they were exaggerating, but Jesus. I really hope they didn't see this video, I really, really hope they didn't see it.

The implication was clear: If you saw this video, you'd know why Rice only got two games.

...yep. Spitting on a woman and then pestering her all the way into an elevator, definitely made it OK to knock her out cold when she hit back.
