Nooo :( You must make it through the sleet and driving snow across the fields of morning lights in the distance.. just to see Tori!

I know, I know...

It's the week after Thanksgiving and I thought they were predicting a dry winter so I figured a road trip to Denver was doable. But last night I checked the Farmer's Alamanac, which boasts an 80-85% accuracy rate, and it predicts a major storm from Thanksgiving through the end of the next week for all of Northern New Mexico and Colorado. :scream:

:Fingers crossed it's wrong:

Horses
Baker Baker
Cloud on My Tongue
Siren
Honey

These are all songs I never seem to get when I've seen her.
:combust:

I assume "T & Bo" means Tori solo with Bosey (Bosendorfer, the piano).

Interesting. :)

I always like going to the fan sites of bands I'm not as rabid over the next day after I see them, to see if they played anything that made the die hards flip out. Apparently she hadn't done She's Your Cocaine in quite some time?

I hope you make it to your show, joyful. :crossesfingers: :)

I had to do the unthinkable last night....sell my Tori tix for last night's show. I've been sick for almost 2 weeks and I went to the theater hoping to have enough energy for the show, but I was practically falling asleep. so I went outside and found a taker. ugh. anyone go last night, how was it??

it really hurt to do it but a part of me knew I wouldn't enjoy it as much, esp if I ended up dozing in my seat in the theater. I read that she played Raspberry Swirl. one of my favorites from Choirgirl. I'm so sad! but what can ya do? I can just hope for next time. :( I'm thankful that I didn't end up buying tickets for tonight's club show she's doing. I would have been even more bummed to miss out on that!

I'm so sorry! That really sucks! Hopefully you can get the bootleg and experience it that way. :)

Is there any chance for you to go to any of the remaining shows this tour?

doesn't look like it. the shows in the closest states...Cleveland already happened, Milwaukee was this past weekend, then the two Chicago shows. Minneapolis is tomorrow and that's about 7 hrs away. a few random dates and then she's off to FL and then TX. just crappy damn luck that I would get sick and still be sick right now.

maybe Zoots is right and I can live through the bootleg of the show. still bummed though. :(

Well, looks like clear skies for my road trip to Denver tomorrow to see Tori (on Wed.) and my best friend who just moved up there. We're excited. :hyper: It'll also be my first road trip with my rescue doggie (the cutest and sweetest Chihuahua in the world). He has a new sweater and a booster seat for the car so I'm now officially one of those crazy dog girls.

I still don't know the Dolls yet. I'm not sure if I'll know which Doll she is when she walks out onstage. :reject:

I'm back, had a great trip/visit with my friend. Kind of a weird show for me. I'm not sure what I think about it all yet. Santa was awesome, the setlist was eh (she managed to play all of my least favorite songs and nothing from my wish list, but oh well...)

I don't know what to say about this show/this tour. Santa rocked but all this time when I heard that "Tori" would come out after the first doll, I thought it was Tori as herself, not Tori the doll. That was such a shocker and a real bummer for me. I kind of hated Doll Tori...horrible outfit, weird energy output, honestly it seemed almost as if she were trying to redo Y Kant Tori Read and get it right or something. I don't know--I kept thinking this wasn't too far from that horrible YKTR video for "The Big Picture". I've struggled with the doll concept all along and now I can say without hesitation that it completely fails for me as a concept. Doll Tori was like a cartoon character of real Tori. My friend and I tried to have fun with it and we did laugh a lot, but honestly, we were both kind of horrified and just wanted real Tori back. Not that we don't appreciate her desire to stretch and do something different--I'm all for that and have enjoyed all her eras. I don't care if she rocks out, or plays ballads at the piano, or what...just lose the wigs and dated glam costumes!

HOWEVER...the music was, as always, perfect, even though the setlist was seriously lame. She has unbelieveable energy and it just didn't stop. My favorites were SATY, Cooling, Sugar, Putting the Damage On, Code Red, and Tear in Your Hand--which are actually the only songs in the whole setlist that I really like! Big Wheel should be retired forever, lol. I hated it the first time I heard it and I still hate it!

But the best part was that at the last minute my friend's friends went online and got amazing seats. They'd never seen her before and were both completely blown away, so we oldtimers also acted like it was the best Tori show ever, just for them, even though it was our least favorite show that we'd seen. Always fun to turn new people on to live Tori.

I don't know, I don't get what she's doing or why. But I still love her.

Putting the Damage On

I know I'm not as big into Tori as you are, joyful, but yeah that's a bit of a disappointing setlist even to me. Still, it's cool you got Santa and that the first timers liked it.

I'm actually not one to be too fussy about setlists because I've seen her now so many times that I think it's dumb to complain. And even the songs I'm not wild about are generally always great live. But it was almost funny how she pulled out all my least favorites. With each song, my friend just looked at me, shook his head and laughed, because he knew.

Cornflake Girl, Space Dog - least favorite songs from UTP (played at almost every show I've seen)

Cocaine, Hotel - least favorite songs from Choirgirl

Pancake, Your Cloud, Sweet Sangria - least favorite songs from SW

Hoochie Woman - least favorite song from TBK

Body & Soul, Big Wheel - least favorites from ADP

:tsk:

Yeah... what the hell is Cocaine doing in the setlist? That is one of her worst! Not huge on Body & Soul either. And Hoochie Woman is okay I guess cos it's kinda funny but as part of the opening tracks?? I do love Your Cloud but I don't see it as a live highlight. It's such a perfect studio track, it doesn't seem it would translate that well live. I don't know, I could be wrong. But anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the show nonetheless. :)

Wow! 2 friends just called me up and told me they have an extra ticket to tomorrow night's Tori show at the Nokia Theater, and they're giving it to me as my Christmas present!

Wow! I'm so shocked I don't even know what to say.

I haven't listened to American Doll Posse in a while. I better bust it out and refresh myself on the songs! (I hope she plays a lot of older stuff, because I know the first 5 albums the best, after "To Venus And Back" I don't know very many of the songs. :reject: )

That's awesome! I look forward to your review.

Woooooo! :hyper:

Just got back. She was sooooo good! Yay! Apparently this show was the last night of the tour, so that was kind special. Cool!

She played as 3 of the Dolls. I don't know their names, but they were each awesome. :)

It's late, and I have to get some sleep, but the setlist as best I can remember (I didn't write it down and I don't know SLG, SW or TBkpr)

Yo George
In The Springtime of His Voodoo
(song I didn't know)
Scarlet's Walk (I think. I heard the words "Scarlet's Walk" and "carry a light" or "shine a light" and she was holding a lantern and swaying it while playing piano with one hand -- very cool)
Heart of Gold
Fat Slut
Cruel
The Waitress
Smokey Joe
Big Wheel
Bells For Her
Amber Waves
Cornflake Girl
Talula
[The next 2 had the words projected above and billed as "T & Bo"]
Silent All These Years
Cooling
--1st Encore--
Precious Things (I screamed my head off for this one. I LOVE this song!)
Bouncing Off Clouds   (This was SO GOOD! It began with just her silhouette undulating against a backdrop of fanning/striated blue and white stage-smoked light. It LOOKED so good! And the song kicked-ass too!)
--2nd Encore--
Hey Jupiter   :combust: (OMG, the BEST "Hey Jupiter" I've ever heard!!!! She did it in this slow, electronica, trance kind of style. Kind of like the re-mix and the video, but even better . . . . more trance-y, electronic-y, dare I say "Radiohead" kind of way. It was SO, SO, SOOOOO GOOD! )

I'm sure I missed a couple of songs in the setlist. I don't know them all, especially the newer ones. But she was so good. This was the 3rd time I've seen her live (once on Under The Pink, once on Choirgirl Hotel/Plugged '98, and now tonight) and she never fails to put on an awesome, high-energy, completely unique and Tori show!

Thank you Aja & Tammy for the free ticket! :D

I love Bells for Her live. And I can't believe you got Talula and Voodoo! I've seen her 8 or 10 times and never ever got either!

The whole show was great! But I do have to say that Bells For Her, Cruel, The Waitress, Precious Things, Bouncing Off Clouds, Heart of Gold and Hey Jupiter were just PHENOMENAL . . . but that's practically the whole show!

So, yeah, like I said previously, the whole show was great!

And my bad magnet luck kept up at this show too! I always attract the most weird, annoying, bizarre people to me at concerts. Every damn time and this was no exception. The smelliest, most drunk, out of it, touching me, brushing my hand, offering me some of his drink, trying to sing-along in disharmony and sounding like a seal being clubbed, hadn't bathed in 2 weeks guy was sitting RIGHT NEXT TO ME! Ugh! He was so annoying. His girlfriend had to keep telling him to shhhhhh! and be quiet every 5 minutes, like a frickin' baby. Oh, and God he SMELLED! Like a dirty, old Vegas casino floor that someone had peed on a long, long time ago: cigarette smoke, grime, and alcohol/wine were seeping out of every pour of this guy's body. :barf:

It's a good thing Tori was so awesome, so as to more than make up for the fact that I had to sit next to this guy for 2 hours!

I had such a great time. Love Tori!

^ :lmao:

I've got The Bad Magnet, too! Mine nearly always manifests as having the only people in the entire section who are dancing right in front of me. This year it happened at Tori, The Shins, Bob Dylan and Bjork. A sea of seated people all around, and two people dancing right in front of me. I mean, it's really weird. And I don't mind dancing/standing if everyone's dancing/stnading but it's just no-brainer polite to go with the majority. At the Tori show in Denver when an entire row of big, loud, blonde women sat down in front of us I said to my friend, oh no...there the are....the dancing people. I was right. :banghead:

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the show! She is awesome.
