There is a new bacterial meningitis vaccine out. While it will not stop all strains or serogroups of the bacteria, it will significantly lower your chance of contracting the disease. If you are in your teenage years do me a favor and look into it.

For those of you who do not know I had bacterial meningitis a year and a half ago and trust me if you can lower your chance of contracting this disease, you need to. It royally sucks and I got off very, very lucky.

thanks

I'm fully behind a vaccine - need to find out some more info on it
I've taken care of some patients that have died from Bacterial
meningitis and some that have lost extremities to the disease - have been exposed more times than I'd like to count (cipro and I have been friends) It isn't a nice disease - can be really bad all around - Thank God you were able to recover
Thanks for the information

I believe there are clinical trials going on right now testing the effectiveness of combination conjugate vaccines. Let's hope the news are good.

Thanks for your post. :)
