I hear this band is on the verge of breakup...but then again they broke up before they ever released an album so who knows.

Original Fire has caught me like Cochise or Your Time Has Come. I'll still pick it up though...I love Cornell's vocals and Rage just rocks...but after reading through this thread...

upon further review, there's some good tunes here...

my first few listens were in my office on a single speaker... all be it a good speaker, but ya can't really listen to audioslave unless it's in full stereo. it looses the effect. the songs that sounded just ok sounded much better in my car with the full effect of the sound.

the first few albums were a bit more of cornell fitting in with rage... this one sounds a little the other way, like the rage guys are trying to work around chris... if that makes sense. a little blusey feel to a few of the songs on the first half, too.

i haven't gotten around to the second half of the album yet... will listen to that on the way home from work this afternoon. but the first half is good... if you were thinking of getting it, then it's certainly worth picking up. if you were never a fan to begin with, there's probably nothing here (at least on the first half of the album) that's going to convince you otherwise.

I think its better than their 2nd album. Not as good as the first because that one is just great.

I've had it for a few days now - it's starting to grow on me. But it's no masterpiece like the first

Ah...I picked this up at lunch and I haven't put it down yet. Sounds very new and yet very classic rock at the same time. I'm diggin' it...man.

I like Rage Against The Garden...or is that SoundMachine? I forget.

Yeah, they started recording their eponymous first album, but took an 'extended' leave before reconvening and finishing it up. Now the talk is that because of Chris Cornell's new solo album and because the band is not touring the album that there is still some rifts inside Audioslave and that this might be their last album. Morello said something like "brothers disagree all the time"...not an exact quote. Who knows...

Audioslave will release its third album, "Revelations", on September 5, but don't expect to see the band on the road until 2007. Frontman Chris Cornell told Launch Radio Networks that unlike the group's previous releases, this time Audioslave plans to let fans spend some time with the album before it goes on tour.

"Let the album come out for awhile," he said. "You know, the first two records we were out, actually, before they came out. We've done three records in four and a half years and toured a lot. This'll be one to just kind of let it go for a minute."

"Revelations" is preceded by the first single, "Original Fire", which is currently No. Six on Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album's title track is also being used in the Madden NFL 2007 video game.

This fall Cornell plans to finish recording his second solo album, which he expects to release in 2007, following up 1999's "Euphoria Morning". Cornell has also recorded "You Know My Name" for the upcoming James Bond movie "Casino Royale", as well as a song for the independent film "Bug", according to Blabbermouth.net.

I have finally had a chance to listen to this album in full.

I'm impressed

Not as good as the first but much much better than the second.

Oh, I think that this album is a grower and that most people will love it as much or more than the first/eponymous album.

I think it's that good.

The first should have it's own shrine. The second was alright... This one will have to grow on me, outside of 'Original Fire' which I've liked all along. I have to hear something a thousand times... even U2

You what, these guys are the AC/DC of their time, which is both good and bad. That said they put out good ol' guitar based rock, with a heavy rhythmn section and a singer who's interested in melody. I miss that in rock (yes I'm old school) so these guys can't go too wrong in my book.
