yes so this has nothing to do with u2 but i need help anyway. i have to decide from a list of controversial books from my english class which one i want to read and report on and they all look really good i've narrowed it down a bit:

Dreiser,Theodore American Tragedy
Faulkner, William As I Lay Dying
Harley, Alex The Autobiography of Malcom X
Heller, Joseph Catch 22
Marquez, Gabriel 100 Years of Solitude
Vonnegut, Kurt Slaughterhouse-Five
Walker, Alice The Color Purple

so far im leaning towards malcom x, my father recommends slaughterhouse-5 (cause he taught it as an english teacher) and a friend has recommended 100 years of solitude. i could always read ulysses which i already know i'll enjoy and i've already read satanic verses and 1984 which are also on the list so i want to read something knew. the list is really long and difficult to narrow down so i'd like some recommendations.

I've read 100 years of Solitude. The names in it will drive you absolutely insane, so many characters have the same name or a variation of it, it makes it really hard to keep things straight. Other than that it's a great book, just something to keep in mind.
