So this Mavs/Suns series is killing me. The 13 in my username? You guessed it, Steve Nash. It's great to see him get the MVP and all the success he's had in the desert, but I still can't help but miss him while watching these games.

That being said, Dallas is up 8 at the half.

Go Mavs.

jeff foster got 20 rebounds on the "vaunted" pistons... 20... jeff foster... and here i thought ben wallace was the new bill russell

Given that both teams missed about 273 shots during the entire game, there were plenty of rebounds to go around. Ben Wallace had 16 of them, you know.

The reason Ben Wallace isn't the new Bill Russell isn't because Jeff Foster had a good game. It's because his on-the-ball defense isn't really all that great (all of his blocks come when someone else attacks the hoop and he leaves his man).

Coupled with the fact that the Pissed-ons have a tendency to go into long scoring droughts in most of their games,
They were stuck on 77 for 5 minutes staright while the Pacers blew their doors off.
33 points in 1st quarter, then 50 points combined in quarters 2,3 &4. The Heat will dominate them, assuming they beat the Pacers.

i know... i was being fecicous... i do that from time to time. i think ben wallace is one of the most over-rated players in recent memory. he's a notch above charles oakley, yet he's on the cover of magazines and video games and has his own commercials.

i think it's the hair... chicks dig the hair.

the pacers shot 37% from the field... and won anyway. the pistons played great defense... and lost anyway. so i guess defense wins championships but it doesn't win games if you don't score enough.

Kenny the Jet quoted George Gervin as saying, the best defense is a lot of offense.
I think basketball is the one game where offense is a much bigger priority than defense (pitching in baseball).

And a trivia question for you Headache:
Name the 1 word in the English language that has all 5 vowels in it, in alphabetical order.

Answer: facetious

The Wizards deserve to be swept after the way they rolled over like dogs at the end of that game last night.
I know 7 is a lot to overcome in the final minute, but you gotta try, anyone remember Reggie Miller @ MSG? I know Headache does.
Watching a jump ball get tapped out of bounds by your guy with 32 seconds left is bad enough (dive for the ball, at least stick your hand out, don't just watch it roll past you), but you gotta give a foul, get the ball and try to hit a couple of 3's. They let the Heat dribble out the last 32 seconds (which is tough to do with a 24 second shot clock, but they managed)...just pathetic effort.

So the Sonics beat the Spurs by one point and now everyone is saying that they have a shot in this series... after two days ago everyone was saying that they were going to be swept by the best team in the NBA.

I hate commentators...

Well if they were gonna get swept by the best team in the NBA, then they'd have to beat the Spurs in order to advance and play the best team in the NBA.

I can't stand listening to Larry Brown talk. He is so boring. Sorry. I live in Michigan. I hear him a lot around here.

stupid long island accents :shakesangryfist:

so every series is tied up at 2... oh... except for miami, who swept washington with shaq resting on the sidelines...

yea... they're losing this year... uh huh... surrrrre...

the remaining 6 teams better pray shaq can't go if they want any chance...

heh heh, look at 'em now! "everyone" sure don't know basketball

I'm just a TOTAL fairweather Sonic fan - not afraid to admit it. (as a lifelong Seahawks FANATIC, I'm allowed some fairweather tendencies elsewhere  )

*finally hops on the Sonics bandwagon after they tie the series w/Spurs*

 go sonics!

Ginobili and Mohammed completely killed the Sonics tonight basically by themselves.
Mr. Longoria didn't help much, I can't stand him...

Pistons will beat the Heat. In last year's finals, Shaq got his in every game, and the Pistons still won the series. And last year's Lakers had more non-Shaq talent than this year's Heat.

B.Wallce/R.Wallace/T.Prince/R.Hamilton/C.Billups/A.Mcdyess > S.O'Neal/Wade/Jones/Jones

Last year's Lakers definitely had more non-Shaq talent than this year's Heat. Unfortunately for the Lakers, all that talent was contained in the person of Kobe Bryant.

No. No no no. The non-Shaq talent was NOT all Kobe, that is just an absurd thing to say. That team team had two HOFs on it outside of Shaq and Kobe. Yes, Malone was playing hurt and not 100%. Yes, Payton hated the triangle. Doesn't matter. They're HOFs for a reason. That Lakers team had a lot more non-Shaq talent than the Heat do and they lost handily to the Pistons. The Lakers of last year also had a better coach than the Heat of this year.

Complete non-sequitur. The reason Malone and Payton are HOF candidates is because of what they accomplished over their careers, and certainly not based on what they accomplished in 2004.

Talent is not a constant quantity with respect to time. And physical fitness, ability to avoid injury, and ability to adapt to new offensive systems are talents as well.

I'm not a Karl Malone fan, but the fact is that he was one of the most consistantly in-shape and physically-fit players to ever play on an NBA team, so don't give me that crap about how he's less talented if he got injured.

Well, one can't fault Malone (or Payton) for getting old, but a sad fact of life is that one's body does break down over time. Yes, this does mean that one's athletic talent dwindles once one gets sufficiently old. (And we're not just talking about avoiding injury -- we're talking about quickness, explosiveness, stamina, etc.)

While Malone and Payton were certainly stellar players for a long time in the NBA, the fact remains that all the factors that I have mentioned greatly diminished their worth to the Lakers.

Um...Miami's head coach is Stan Van Gundy.
You need to find 2 things...a picture of pornstar Ron Jeremy aka the hedgehog, and a sense of humor, then maybe you'll see what I'm talking about.

Never thought of that but Van Gunde realy resembels Ron very much. They have another thing in common. What Ron does to his partners Stan does that to his opponents and both are very impressive. They play it hard.
