I just bought these CD's Sunday night:

Nick Drake - "Pink Moon"
I've never owned Drake's stuff. I'm really liking this album.

The Young Dubliners - "Breathe"
Nice album. If can recommend any other Young Dub's discs, please do.

Kool and the Gang - "The Best Of 1979-1987"
J.T. has a great voice.

I spent $40.00. Fook. But I can't help it. :mac:

afi--sing the sorrow was the last cd i bought, about a month ago almost now...

I can't remember. Probably Different Class by Pulp or the 24/7 soundtrack for a bargain. Or maybe even a Saint Etienne album, Tiger Bay was the last one I got. It's been a long time since I bought a CD.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you never go wrong with Nick Drake.

I just bought:

White Stripes - "Elephant"
This album absolutely rocks in the most purest of ways. It sounds like a Led Zeppelin Album.

Wilco - "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"
This one is growing on me. Nice melodies and good lyrics. Its like experimental folk music.

Jeff Buckley - "Grace"
The only thing I like about this is "hallelujah" My god, what a f*cking song! Oo la la

AFI - Sing the Sorrow
Essential Clash
White Stripes - Elepant
Cee-lo - Cee-lo and His Perfect Imperfections
Sigur Ros - ()
Audioslave
Foo Fighters - One by One

White Stripes - Elephant: Like this much better than White Blood Cells, need to listen to it more. I really like Meg's voice. :)

Beck - One Foot In the Grave: Folksy, definitely unpolished and sounds like demos. Pretty good though.

I recently got Last Broadcast and the Bends for my girlfriend. She seems to like them, which is good.

I've only bought 3 CDs this year that I can recall...

Rural Free Delivery - Whiskeytown
The Fine Art of Self Destruction - Jesse Malin
Stars and Guitars - Willie Nelson

a lot of white stripes fans around here, i see...

[/random observation]

i recently got some U2 stuff in the mail thanks to bonochick. :cute:

but as for stuff i actually bought, umm, i bought rolling stones' forty licks like a month ago. oh, and and a month ago i bought norah jones' cd. i forget what it's called now.

The Wherehouse near my Ralphs is going belly-up, so a few weeks ago I got some used cds cheaper than usual.

REM Eponymous
Springsteen Chimes of Freedom ep
Talking Heads Stop Making Sense

When it gets even cheaper, there's a copy of Tribute to Heroes I'm going to get.

*White Stripes--Elephant

I also picked up some used vinyl last week...the soundtracks for Animal House and An American Werewolf in London.

All in the last month (so bad):

Elephant, the White Stripes
Mary Star of the Sea, Zwan
Attack of the Attacking Things, Jean Grae
The Man Comes Around, Johnny Cash
Diamonds on the Inside, Ben Harper
Evolve, Ani di Franco

Not a fan of the White Stripes but I did read good reviews of Elephant and heard it rocked more. I wasn't bowled over by White Blood Cells. Like the concept (blues rock, guitar and drums dudo, with cooky image) so its no problem for me to give them a try.

Liked the cover though...

The most recent cd's I have are

Linkin Park - Meteora

AFI - Sing The Sorrow

The Music - The Music

Matthew Good - Avalanche

All really good.....not sure about the new white stripes....I don't have white blood cells, so I don't know if I like them or not.

i bought

last weekend: autechre - basscad ep

a month ago: future sound of london - papua new guinea translations

good cd's , ESPECIALLY the autechre one.

last 2 weeks:
Aphex Twin - 26 mixes for cash
Mariza - Fado Curvo
Calexico - Feast of Wire

all 3 of them very good
Aphex Twin insanely good even

I meant to check out that autechre album

its good, but a bit pricey for only 5 songs.

im assuming you have the aphex twin selected ambient collection or whatever its called? whats that all about? ive never seen it, only heard about it. is it good?

next cd's to get will include:

future sound of london: the isness
future sound of london: dead cities

more autechre and aphex twin will also hopefully make their way into my cd library in the near future.

The Music singles... Getaway and another live format single

Tonight at the AFI concert I bought :

AFI - Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes

Selected Ambient Vol. I is regarded by the critics as his best work (though I don't nesecarely agree)
"26 mixes for cash" can best be compared to this one

Selected Ambient Vol. II is a double album with nameless tracks
none of the tracks has any beats in them
it's intriguing to say the least

Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People

Black Heart Procession - Amore Del Tropico

----------

BSS are probably one of the most important indie bands on the scene now. It really really good music, folks. Try downloading Stars and Sons or Lovers Spit

it's a 10 piece band full of people who were in "epic" bands before...those Mogwai and Sigur Ros types. Their objective with BSS was to write 4 or 5 minute pop rock songs...and the result is awesome.

Black Heart Procession are also very good. Very dark and minor but with an almost "siesta" feel to it. Very interesting!

:der: i forgot to mention the cd i just bought friday!

i bought the soundtrack to chicago.

i know most people here don't like the movie but i did. :grumpy: it is about two of my favourite things: the roaring twenties and jazz. the soundtrack is really good.
