on sunday morning at 7 or so, winds in excess of over 140 km's (close to 90 miles an hour) hammered miles and miles of yards, towns, and villages.

massive, MASSIVE old trees simply fell over or smapped at hte bottom. think about that...snapping at the bottom.

when trees bend from the wind, they MIGHT break somewhere in the middle.

never at the bottom.

you know those poles they have along highways? those were lifted up...despite being completely aerodynamic. they were lifted up out the ground.

rail cars full of grain were THROWN OFF THE TRACKS.

this wasn't a hurricane or a tornado, this was something else. it was monstrous.

in my village, my yard was easily the best off...everyone else's lost beautiful trees that smashed into their houses...

ah yes...the wonders of mother nature.

no power or water caused problems too...people's basements flooded instantly with no sum pump. not ours, thankfully.

i'll scrounge up some pics...

a tree once fell on our house when i was a kid.

how about 30 of them?

how about having almost no trees left standing?

this isn't north carolina, nothing here is ready for such shit.

straight line winds...

They are common in your area of N. America this time of year.

Did it knock the "J" back into order on your laptop?

no, my 7 is still kaput.

straight line winds...but we're talking about a swath no less than 70 miles wide here.

the cbc is the best thing since sliced bread.

you poor americans who toil through life with such tripe as fox deserve everyone's pitty.

I just checked cbc.ca, there is nothing of these winds....just floods

And that would be where I come in.

Yes.

200 year storms in Alberta, a State Of Emergency in my city, and a mandatory water rationing, etc.... Once again I upstart you with a wicked awesome phenomena, Zoomerang!

yes, i do realize that.

but your floods are NOTHING compared to what we had in 97. NOTHING.

we LAUGH at your pathetic attempts to copy us manitobans in your "disasters".

please. if you want sympathy, get your own natural phenomena.

Me copy YOU?

That's hippoposterous.

(seriously though, manitoba pisses on alberta with its large weather peeing device)

is your house safe, bear?

yes, indeed it is.

we have severly damaged evergreens, but at least they're still standing for now.

the neighbours are a different story.

cu7o, on a more serious note, where are you really at with all the flooding? are you really directly affected?

i can top both of you.

we had a tornado here in edmonton. an ACTUAL tornado.

granted, it was 18 years ago.

but, it happened.

for real.
