Well I'd just typed up a nice long review of my weekend when my computer decided to freak out and I had to restart before my post was done. Blarg. I'll make this one short.

I had a most incredible weekend, heard the wonderful McGarrigle/Wainwright clan sing and Rufus put on an excellent show debuting several new songs, and one, ironically enough, written about Jeff Buckley. The performance was a rare exciting event given that most of the family just does shows on their own. I met Rufus, Teddy Thompson (long time friend of Rufus and son of folk singer Richard Thompson), Kate McGarrigle (Rufus' mom..yay!) and Jeff Hill (bassist for Rufus and member of the group Goats In Trees).

There is, of course, a story to go with my Rufus pics. I had him sign my cd booklets and gave him some Toblerone I'd bought him (his response 'mmmmm Toblerone *smile*'). I was so excited about that, that I'd forgotten to get my pic...duh! After the crowd had cleared out I saw he was still hanging around and had to take that opportunity to get my pic. I walked up to him and asked if I could get my pic since I'd forgotten earlier. He happily obliged and I stood next to him. My friend stopped and looked at Rufus and said 'Rufus quit sticking out your tongue!'. lmao I turned to him and said 'HEY!', just as my friend snapped the pic. I was like, aw crap what if this doesn't turn out! So I asked for another pic and so now I have two. *dies* The first pic was the best pic and what I'd wanted to have since the last show. Rufus almost never gives a toothy grin for ANY pics, but I got one! *dances around* Here's the pics I got with everyone. :)

Both of my Rufus pics:

When I read the title of your thread, I thought you meant Rufus, you know, Chaka Khan, the 70s.

Rufus Wainwright is an amazing songwriter!

Poses is absoultely brilliant, such unique song writing...everyone should check him out

Those are SUCH cute pictures! :cute: I have Poses, but haven't listened to it in a long time (I have a hard time NOT picturing a Broadway musical when I listen to it! :uhoh: ). I love his voice, though, especially on his cover of "Across the Universe."

 yay for toblerone!

oh and then....

The day after the show...I took one of my friends to the airport. First we saw Jeff and Teddy. We ate in the same food court! *dies* THEN...I saw Rufus walking around...I think he was looking for Jeff and Teddy, but he got distracted by the bar. LOL That was so freakin awesome, I about passed out. :shifty:
