I'm not completely sold on the order.

I don't really think Wilco deserves to be #1...but thats the way to turned out somehow
Some may be too high and some too low...but I'm not changing it now

How about adding Modest Mouse or the mountain goats. Also, technically, Muse was an 04 release in the states, which means it would make my list.

Other than that, i like...

1. Seafood -- As the Cry Flows
2. Hope of the States -- The Lost Riots
3. Jesse Malin -- The Heat
4. Regina Spektor -- Soviet Kitsch
5. The Zutons -- Who Killed the Zutons?

It's very depressing but right now I can't think of a single album out this year that is even half decent - possibly Franz Ferdinand, but theyre really only good when you compare it with everything else that has come out this year...that should all change though come november ;)

Wait, there is The Rasmus - they're pretty good. Ok, 1 decent album, then...

1. The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
2. Brian Wilson - Gettin' In Over My Head
3. The Reigning Sound - Too Much Guitar
4. TV On The Radio - Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes
5. Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
6. Air - Talkie Walkie

out of contention since it's sort of a best of:
7. Bonnie Prince Billy - Sings Greatest Palace Music

Basstrap, Air is trip hop :D

nice list

you think so?

yeah I suppose...

yeah, you're right

I was gonna say the streets. But to be honest I find the whole spoken word thing just makes everything sound so similar. It's very interesting and original though, so it probably does deserve some recognition!

I may have to check out the seafood album. I have When Do We Start Fighting, and though some songs sound like tired Kent recordings, I think it is very good! His voice is interesting

Franz Ferdinand
John Vanderslice ? Cellar Door
Modest Mouse ? Good News for People who Like Bad News
Junior Boys ? Last Exit
Blockhead ? Music By Cavelight
The Dresden Dolls ? The Dresden Dolls
Espers
Mirah
Kanye West

My personal favs:

Beastie Boys - 'To The 5 Boroughs'
The Beta Band - 'Heroes To Zeroes'
Muse - 'Absolution'
Franz Ferdinanad - "
Morrissey - 'You are the Quarry'
Modest Mouse - 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News'
The Cure - "
Fiery Furnaces - 'Blueberry Boat'
Sparta - 'Porcelain'
DJ Tiesto - 'Just Be'
Tiger Army - 'III: Ghost Tigers Rise'

yes, I forgot to mention cLOUDDEAD - Ten.

not all that accessible, but when you give it a chance it is really addiciting. I heard about it on another message board, they were all raving about it.

The Mirah album is indeed very nice as well!
Mirah - C'mon Miracle

I think Modest Mouse and Muse would have to settle for honorable mentions
