My jazz band from school had an exchange with a jazz band from Newfoundland.
When we went to the airport to go there our plane got cancelled because of smow in Newfoundland. 36 hours later we finally got there! We arrived at like 3:00 in the morning! When they came here they only got delayed by an hour because they couldnt find their luggage at the airport. They did find it though.
I'm glad you like my pictures! Most of them were taken at the Marine Institute in St.John's (Basstrap's hometown)

*slaps forehead* i SO knew this.

cool anyway!

 I posted that story in PLEBA the day our plane got cancelled! lol. The airport wouldnt put us up in the hotel so we had to go all the way home (1 hour from airport). We wanted to sleep at the school just for fun but we werent allowed :(

Im gonna try and e-mail the marine institute and see what they named the seal. They asked us for names but the best one we could think of was Bogafart. Our drummer Doug (he has a website www.ballandglove.com) came up with that. I dont think Newfoundland was ready for a bunch like us to come and visit. Doug put up fliers for his webste everywhere. He got me and some friend to go into the ladies washroom and put a few hundred in there. I figured out how to make it so when they got a paper towel the fliers came out.

Newfie rules, I spent nearly 3 weeks out there 2 summers ago at the Soiree 99 or whatever it was... ok 3 years ago i guess... even still... Bakeapple and partridgeberry jam  We drove out, took the ferry across, wooo nothing like travelling by sea, I swear its a good thing I stayed inside cuz I woulda fallen overboard.. dint quite get my sea legs... anyhoo we went to cornerbrook, up to st.. st... ok I cant remember, but its on the northern peninsula, good for whale watching, that was pretty cool. Then we went back around the highway out to Gross Morne and so forth, St Johns, had a grand time. I highly suggest people go there, its magnificent!

Nice pics ravenstar :) sounds like you had a good time! Did you go on any puffin-viewing excursions?

The original plan was to stay from monday-sunday. Since with the plane cancellation and all we didnt arrive until wednesday morning. We stayed till monday though.

This is at signal hill. It's too bad the day was cloudy or this pic would've looked like a postcard.

I like boats.

These last pics (the boats) were taken on the last day of our trip (sunday). We had some free time before a BBQ at the house where I was staying at. (huge house - everyone came over that night) On the way back we saw some other people in the jazz bands so we decided to bring them back home with us. So we had 2 people up front, three sitting in the back with one laying on top of us. Great time we had.

You went all this way and you never met up with him???

Nice photos-looks beautiful! I plan to go to Nova Scotia one day--Thats close!

I didnt know Basstrap until after I went to Newfoundland. :( He might of saw us though. We were a group of usually 18 and sometimes 30. When we were the group of 18 we atrracted so much attention. I think we were to crazy for Newfoundland.

We went to signal hill one night, it was about midnight, they had lights on and whatnot, it was a little rainy/foggy so there were no real photo ops, but there were a bunch of teen couples out for a walk/in the parking lot doing goodness knows what... it was pretty humourous though... its a busy spot! lol

/me needs scanner

He may not see it. He just finished the semester and went home for the week and said he'd prob go to the cabin. I'm surprised he didn't say goodbye to us!!! :(

Egads, this made me  and :lmao:

I could totally picture a unsuspecting lady walking up to the sink to wash her hands and pulling out what she thought was a paper towel. Only to get a flyer. heh.

:der:

Moonie :D

awesome!!!

I was just sent the link to this, and I'm not even sure how far down the page this is...but they are beautiful pics!

And there is a group of people here who are really open minded and wouldn't be "afraid" of you guys. I'm sure you got some funny looks, but thats to be expected from an island with only 500,000 people on the whole of it!!

Gros Morne National Park may be my favorite when it comes to beautiufl scenery

and those hills are actually the misty mountains...most of the people who live here are orcs
kindly orcs, all the same
