You have a very nice taste in music, LemonMelon.

I was wondering two things:

2. Have you listened any of Todd Rundgren's other work?

No(!) I haven't heard it...my dad has Trick Of The Tail, which, from what I've heard sounds excellent.

The only other Rundgren album I've heard is Wizard/A True Star, which is fab.

Trick Of The Tail is pretty good. Nursery Cryme features The Musical Box, one of the best songs of the 70's, and Return Of The Giant Hogweed, one of the weirdest ideas for a song too date.

If you liked Wizard you should get his album Todd. It is what Wizard only hinted at in terms of experimentation and song writing. It's one of the best albums of the 70's.

Anyways, great list!

Thanks for the tip. My list has some holes that need to be filled, so the recommendations are appreciated.

(It's mostly why I posted the list at all  )

Yes, you need 'Nursery Crime'. And the 'Yes Album'

And while you have 'High Voltage' (love "It's A Long Way To The Top ..."), you are missing 'Highway To Hell'

No Judas Priest? :tsk:
Have you heard Traffic? :hmm:

Screwtape = fellow old Genesis fan

Cool that you have some Kinks albums in your collection!! I began listening to them a 2 years ago and now own their albums up to 1975's Schoolboys in disgrace. Maybe you want to listen to Preservation Act 1 and Preservation Act 2, a very cool concept album and Village Green preservation society and Schoolboys in Disgrace are also part of that concept.

But wow, what a collection!!

I tend to do that...pick a great artist and forget to pick out their best album.

I need to get back into Yes again. And on the subject of Genesis, I heard Lamb Lies Down On Broadway a few months ago...what a record! Such creativity!

I'm missing a lot of soul/funk music. Sly, Parliament, Funkadelic...

And despite the presence of some jazz records, I've never gotten into Coltrane.

 I have a list of some of my albums online too, seeing them all listed makes me wonder what other things I could have spent my money on :uhoh:

This is some of the collection (for BC):

Adams, Ryan - Heartbreaker
Adams, Ryan - Gold
Adams, Ryan - Demolition
Adams, Ryan - Love is Hell Part 1
Adams, Ryan - Love is Hell Part 2
Adams, Ryan - Cold Roses
Adams, Ryan - RocknRoll

I have a couple of songs from Gold on my hard drive... :uhoh: And I really liked what I heard from Love Is Hell, so...

 Ween!!!! Omg everytime I mention "push the daisies" some of my friends threaten to kick my ass. I'm glad to see theres another fan!

BTW, if you're lookin for more, I personally like Kanye's College Dropout better than Late Registration. But both are great albums

Oh and I know I'm setting myself up to be flamed, but what is U2-Melon? I've never heard of it!

I see there is a stark lack of Porcupine Tree in your collection. Rectify this posthaste.

60 or 70, maybe. The rest are CD-R's. And I have maybe 20 albums on my hard drive.

Oh, and I don't own an MP3 player. :flirt:

Considering the direction technology is heading nowadays, I find such questions to be irrelevant. You might as well ask how many of those are actual cassettes.

I have a cd collection a bit smaller than that or the same size and all of them are actual cds

And some people might have one full of copied cds

Doesn't make it any less of a collection

technology my ass... is STILL not the same... an mp3 is not something to behold

As someone who has too little space and too much of a tendency to keep far too much stuff, keeping music on my computer instead of having stacks of hard copies is a godsend. You have no idea of the space I've saved by keeping most of my music just on my computer. I really have very little need for CDs or vinyl and they strike me as being increasingly irrelevant by the day. I'm not someone who needs a case to hold or artwork to stare at - I just like to hear good music.

but opening a new CD (specially a U2 one) is the best feeling, experience and smell or scent ever...

even better than the top of a newborn baby's head

My fear with digital music is the potential for an unexpected hard-drive crash, although I also prefer to have physical, authentic CDs in my collection. There was a thread about this subject in this forum not too long ago.

God, that song makes me want to kick Ween in the ass. I'd thankfully forgotten all about that thing.

I've added a bunch of records.

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion 1
Joni Mitchell - Blue
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Yes - The Yes Album
Bob Marley - Legend
Alice In Chains - Dirt
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm

I've never understood why people talk about the scent of new CDs. I don't go around smelling CDs.

As I said, I'm interested in good music. I couldn't care less about opening a CD.

This is why I have a backup. Mmmm, 320GB external hard drive.

Takes up the space of only a couple of CDs too.
