I  this one!! Soooo great. It really lets Bono's songwriting abilities shine through.

(I think it's even better than the original. :silent: )

Ok, I'm back and I have my list. You might notice that I love sad music, so you came to the right person. First I will post my tracklisting to my Heartbroken CD. I was going through a lot of different emotions at the time. Sadness, bitterness, but still in love, so the songs reflect that.

Here it is. I will also put stars next too the ones that are REALLY sad or have made me just pretty much break down and cry like a little school girl.

Forever - Ben Harper
Noah's Dove - 10,000 Maniacs
Somebody's Cryin' - Chris Isaak
*Say Hello, Wave Goodbye - David Gray
Tell Her This - Delemitri
*I Love You - Sarah MacLachlin (damn I can never spell her name)
*The Scientist - Coldplay
Things Go Wrong - Chris Isaak
Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead
Lost Cause - Beck
So Cruel - U2
*****Rain - Patty Griffin
*Warning Sign - Coldplay
The End of Everything - Chris Isaak
*Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
Sick Cycle Carousel - Lifehouse
**Winter - Tori Amos
*****Memories of You - Ryan Adams
Do What You Have To Do - Sarah M.
**Walk Away - Ben Harper

Ok, now other sad songs not on this cd that I have been liking lately.

This Year's Love, The Other Side, Sail Away and Nightblindness from David Gray

How to Live Alone - The Pernice Brothers

We'll Recover - Matt Nathanson

Forgiveness and Let Him Fly by Patty Griffin

Forgiveness - Mason Jennings

Inside of Love - Nada Surf

Come Pick Me Up, La Cienga Just Smiled, Dear Chicago, Why Do They Leave, In My Time of Need by Ryan Adams

EZ - Pete Yorn

Ocean View - The Push Stars

Hey Jupiter - Tori Amos

Don't Think Twice, It's alright - there are many versions but I like Johny Marr and the Healers.

Well there you have it. There are lots more I suppose. I didn't even touch The Smiths which is a whole canon of sadness on it's own. i hope these help to make a great, heartbreaking disc (or 2)

"God Give Me Strength" by Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach.

great song written for the movie "Grace of my Heart"

Kristen Vigard sings it in the movie.

let's not forget "Only love can break you heart" Neil young

I think you should fill a CD with Really bad music (Stryper, White Snake, Posion, Europe, etc. etc. etc.)...because nothing says I really don't want you in my life anymore than, say, a Stryper song!

Nice

You forgot Warrant and Ratt. Maybe even some Winger.

true love waits - radiohead
motion picture soundtrack- radiohead

high and dry - radiohead
dirty day - u2
interstate love song - stone temple pilots

Wow...thanks for all of the songs!!

I think I'm gonna have to expand to more than one disc for my final cut.

Upon further review.....

I suggest you should actually break up witht he person by talking to them, rather than sending them a CD full of Warrant and Ratt songs.

Oh, nevermind, this is bang and clatter, not zoo confessionals.

I'm not sending a CD to somebody as a means of breaking up. I was just talking to a guy about songs that are real heartbreakers, and I wanted to make him a CD cuz he's into that. I thought I'd get some suggestions from all of you musical gurus though.

Unless you are just saying that as a general statement to all.
