i was thinking earlier that i'd better not ever go to the us because i'd surely come home about 20kg heavier from trying all your exciting food. my friend went to a few states a few years ago, and she could not get over the sheer size of your supermarkets.

i lost weight when i was there in february. given i ate like a king, i've no idea how that happened!

wow, really? when een was here he said our supermarkets are about the same size as those in auckland. and sure enough, the one we went to while staying in auckland was pretty big. i wasn't in aus long enough to go to the grocery store, but i assumed it was the same.

while we have a lot of good food you can't get there, it's the same here. i miss kfc, burger king, souvlaki hut, and proper fish and chips. i think most of all i miss the fish and chips. i've never found anyone here that makes it the way it's supposed to be made. sure, i've seen places in nyc that are faithful in their preparation, but that's fucking nyc and i'm never going to live there.

Maybe she was talking about some particular kind then? I reckon ours are big enough, too. I don't see why NZ would be any/much different to here, too.

So you don't have KFC then? Or Burger King? I thought they were American chains! Did you get your fish and chips from beachside cafes? They can make the best on earth. The key is in the batter for the fish, and the oil for the chips.

APPARENTLY KFC is better in Aussieland or at least New Zealand. I'm going to have to beg to differ until I find out first hand :tsk:

all that exercise!
:tsk:

:shifty: they say it's equivalent to a brisk walk, but i would have thought i'd need more than that to compensate for everything i ate

i've only had new zealand/australian kfc (haven't had my chance to get american yet), but it'll take a LOT to top the seasoning that goes on the fries.

with that said, the american kfc menu does look good. but the lack of kfc fries is totally compensated by places like white castle, in-n-out, chili's, etc....

i've walked over two miles, both ways for an in-n-out burger.

Surely the potato wedges must heal the wounds just a LITTLE?

yeah, but i haven't been working on them!

Whoot Whoot!

God, I've got to get into the editing suites and put my segment together, and when I tried to do that today, none of the equipment was working :scream: I'm getting a little nervous.

ah, the downtime is coming, i can't multiquote!

i've got to write my documentary proposal tomorrow. on top of actually doing the interviews and editing my 15 minute (+/- 1 second) i also have to do a live cross for radio, three on-air features, an interview, two ads, three voicebreaks and a partridge in a pear tree. not to mention some other assignment that hasn't been set yet, a research essay and an exam! all in the space of five weeks.

and somewhere into that i also get to fit in getting everything organised for my us visa interview.

it really helps that i'm also already in the departure lounge.

Fucking hell. Godspeed, man.

I don't even know what I thought when I heard the phrase "Sweet Chili Sauce". But, apparently we don't HAVE that :uhoh:

Wait, the US lacks sweet chilli sauce?

That's almost as bad as the criminal lack of Tim Tams!

Somebody organise a shipment immediately.

they seem to do ok for tim tams now, although i'm not sure now that world market seems to have died.

for a country that has a market for pre-sliced peanut butter slabs, i find this disturbing.

it seems like the perfect condiment. needless to say, as little as i use it, i'm bringing some when i move. this will not do.
