I'm watching the MTV European Awards now because it interfered with my plans when it was originally broadcast...
Anyway, I came in search of this thread because I just knew people would bring up Coldplay stealing U2 gimmicks - yep, just like Until the End of the World their guitarist started going into this solo and Chris pretended he was a bear (notice there were bears on the screen behind? probably so us U2 fans wouldn't say he was pretending he was a bull

I love, love, love Coldplay but that was a blatant rip-off of U2....

I see these awards were directed by Hamish Hamilton, the same fellow who did Slane and Boston in 2001 for U2.
